game changing hire
Why do you think we need a "game changing hire?" If the team was a legit SB team that just got injured and had bad coaching then don't we need just need a guy ready to step in now with what we have in place?
so Bowles is a bottom 10 head coach, something that really hasn't changed in his tenure as Bucs head coach. He was never in the top 15 and i dont think he's cracked top 20 ever either. (as opposed to guys like Arians, Gruden, and Dungy, which were all at least in the top 15 during their times)
so with that being said, the Bucs were able to put up .500 records with an unqualified head coach and win their division in most years, first round playoff exit. Put them in that realm.
You hire a guy like Monken and you are still looking at a guy that starts the year outside the top 20, but ahead of Bowles maybe by a few spots. Maybe that gets this team to 10,11 wins but doesn't move the needle.
Look at young hires like McDonald, Johnson, and Coen which have their teams around the 12 + wins mark, or let's look at coaching retreads like Vrabel, Payton, J. Harbaugh all having success with their teams.
so that's why i am in the Kubiak, Brady camp or potentially Harbaugh, Tomlin camp.
Monken is closer to retirement in my eyes then he is cutting edge, going to make a mark.
Just my two cents, feel those other guys listed could get is to the 12 win+ mark and actual contender.

Thats great thanks for the explanation.
One reason I mentioned Monken was because of the likelihood of the Glazers firing Bowles now and the absence of knock your socks off, no brainer young offensive minds like a Ben Johnson to replace him. From what I read, Kubiak and Brady don't fit that mold. Obviously could be wrong, but that was part of the thought process.
Historically speaking the Glazers also seem to go with a new HC who is the opposite of the perceived flaw in the fired coach. Loose, friendly Morris becomes "Toes on the Line" drill master Schiano, for example. Monken is sort of the anti-Bowles from a personality perspective.
Good points though. We will all know soon enough.
Would prefer to go the younger route not the been there done that route

According to Russini the 2026 HC is gonna be Bowles.
Stupid move if true, just waste 2026 for no reason. I thought Licht was smarter than this.

take any rumor with a grain of salt.
even says licht is more safe than Bowles
which is easily justified.
If we keep Bowles I'm gonna fly over to St Pete and take a shit on Licht's doorstep
assuming it’s lichts decision
Yeah, it’s not Licht’s decision. The GM makes recommendations on coaching. The owners ultimately make the decisions.
Then Licht better recommend firing him... But he won't and I'm pretty sure we are keeping Bowles
Where this is smoke, there is fire
incompetent franchises do incompetent things
Todd Bowles
i hope im dead wrong
Looks like this team will go back to 2009-2019 buc ball
Toilet Bowles.
I’m calling my shot saying the Glazers bring Gruden back as our next head coach.
If Harbaugh, LaFleur or McDermitt get fired I think its one of them otherwise I got a feeling it will be Rams DC Shula
I’m calling my shot saying the Glazers bring Gruden back as our next head coach.
what about this?
they tell Todd he is back but you need to replace your coordinators so he brings back Gruden as OC and Raheem as DC. Bruce Arians then joins as assistant head coach and dungy joins as defensive consultant
we really should have done this for our 50th anniversary but it is what it is
Going to be interesting off season ahead. Like last year, there won't be too many good OC choices with a lame duck sitting HC. Who really is going to be desperate to work for Bowles knowing that if things don't go right this year, he'll be looking for another gig. We should absolutely be starting over at HC/OC/DC but I don't think it will happen yet.
I don't think it will happen yet.
I think it will because I think you're right in the first part of your post. How in the world would they bring a new OC here? and many of Bowles defensive coaches have been with him for decades, so its pretty hard for me to imagine him throwing those guys overboard when Arians and Bowles entire MO is coaches = family.
Seems like a natural opportunity for a break.
rumblings that perhaps Raheem Morris 2.0 bringing in Byron Leftwich as OC.
We have complained and the Glazers are answering our call. If only we would have been more specific on replacement for Bowles rather than just Fire Bowles.....oh the agony!
