From what we heard from Licht and Lovie they don't sound sold on Glennon. Is anybody really? So that leaves us with what? For one, we are in a terrible position to draft a franchise QB at seven. Manziel, Bridgewater, and Bortles should all be off the board when we pick. Of those three, is anybody really sold they are going to be FRANCHISE QB's. Let's face its a crap shoot taking a QB in the first round, history tells us that. So, that leaves us with the FA market.QB- Matt Schaub (expected to be released)QB- Josh McCownQB- Matt CasselQB- Michael VickOf those who do you think we should take? Who is a legitimate upgrade over Glennon? I personally think all of them are. I think Matt Schaub is clearly the best option. He had a bad year last year, as did the entire Texans team. He put up good numbers the five years prior. He is 32, which is not ancient in QB years unless your known for running i.e. Vick. We can get 4 to 5 good years out of him and with a few additions elsewhere I think we can be contenders.

I don't know - I'd be skeptical of all these options. I don't like Vick and would stop watching if he was our starting QB. I actually saw Schaub last year and he did not look good. Even with decent coaching, time in the pocket and good options to throw to it just looked like he was really off....so not sure if he has anything left. Maybe McCown could be a good Plan "B" - but I really feel the O-line needs to be fixed before we can expect anything from anyone standing behind center. We should have good options at LT where we pick - Matthews, Robinson, Lewan..hope one of them is our starting LT for the next decade.

I agree with OL. I'm hoping we re-tool grabbing Mathews or Robinson with our first pick. Having a solid OG drop to us in the 2nd round would be nice. The we can cut over paid dead weight Penn/Joseph and free up some nice cap space for free agency.

IMO, there is no QB worth a top 10 pick this draft. They all have many question marks at the NFL level. Therefore, let's go with Mike to see how the new coaching staff can work with him. They only need to look for a backup QB. How does Aaron Murray sound in rd 4 or 5?

I would seriously have reservations about lovie if he signed any of these guys.I'd rather he mortgage off the bucs future for teddy, manziel, or bortles, than waste time and money on any of these qb's.We already have a capable backup in glennon, and for one reason or another, that's about all these guys are worth. If the idea is to threaten us with vick to get us to back glennon...I guess it will work.

It's a bit of a stretch to see Murray... coming in as a rookie rehabbing an ACL... pushing Glennon.

None of those FA QB would be an upgrade over Glennon IMO. The negative is they are what they are... Glennon has a ton of room for growth. There was a lot lacking in Glennon's game last year. But I also think he's going to get better coaching and a better offense to show case his ability. You can tell from listening to Smith that he thinks the formula to win isn't QB-driven. I'd be shocked if we end up drafting a QB #1 when there's high end pass rushers/blockers to be had.

Why? Because he's willing to take a chance on an unproven rather than go with a guy proven he's incapable of 2nd half wins? No QB coming out next year is guaranteed to the Bucs. Gotta make moves now if you don't feel Glennon can take us there.

if Smith, Licht and Tedford think there is a future top ten NFL QB at #7, it's a no brainer you take the QB... if they think Manziel is the next Favre, Bortles the next Roethlisberger, Bridgewater the next Brees or Carr the next Wilson... not my opinion but if that's what they believe, give them a shot!if they think there isn't a future top ten NFL QB, just average starting material or only one/two years wonder ala Vick, pass and take another position!you dont pass on a franchise QB if you're not sure you already have that guy!if Glennon play like a top ten QB next year you can still trade the new rookie for something...sure it's not the best way to build our QB's confidence, but Glennon is a smart guy who know he wasn't outstanding on tape and in a new GM/HC era you always start from zero!

Glennon should be the starter in 2014.  If he's not, then I have serious questions about the new regime.  He was a rookie last year during the most dysfunctional season a franchise has seen in a while, and yet, in November was named rookie of the month.  Fans need to stop drooling over a has-been or some rookie with no upside and realize that we need to use this draft for OL, WR and defensive depth.  Glennon's arm strength doesn't grow on trees and we need to see what we have before we just push him to a back up roll.

I agree. I'm not sure that Glennon got the best coaching last season and I'd like to see him get another try in what hopefully will be a better offensive scheme with a better run defense. However, I also think we need to have another quarterback to groom in house. I'd like to see another quarterback drafted, just not with pick #1.

Due diligence should be expected. Seems like the coaches like Mike, but that's not to say that pinning the next 5 years of this franchise on his shoulders would be a good idea. My stance has been all along that I liked Mike and thought it would be very difficult to find someone in the draft or FA that could overtake him as the starter. That surely doesn't mean that we don't try. We need to be better at every position, especially QB. QB is a spot you upgrade 100% of the time you have a chance.
