IMO, there is no QB worth a top 10 pick this draft. They all have many question marks at the NFL level. Therefore, let's go with Mike to see how the new coaching staff can work with him. They only need to look for a backup QB. How does Aaron Murray sound in rd 4 or 5?

They might have a ? next to them but Glennon has 2 ?'s next to him after last season. It would be foolish to pass on another option. A Freeman/Glennon switch is possible this season just like last season if Glennon starts and tanks. We have no option to fall back on right now.

Glennon has tons of questions about him. he should be the backup.

Glennon should be the starter in 2014.  If he's not, then I have serious questions about the new regime.  He was a rookie last year during the most dysfunctional season a franchise has seen in a while, and yet, in November was named rookie of the month.  Fans need to stop drooling over a has-been or some rookie with no upside and realize that we need to use this draft for OL, WR and defensive depth.  Glennon's arm strength doesn't grow on trees and we need to see what we have before we just push him to a back up roll.

I will say this one time, we have seen the best of Glennon.

My impression from Lovie/Licht is they want a veteran QB IN CAMP. That's true of 99% of all NFL teams... Nothing has been said about them wanting to REPLACE Glennon with a vet. Only reason for Orlovsky was his chemistry in the classroom with Freeman; he really wasn't that good.     Anyone who thinks Glennon THE SOPH won't be much improved over Glennon the ROOKIE come April mini-camp is in for a pleasant surprise. As for me, I expect it. My understanding is the kid has basically been living at 1BUC since the end of the season, and he's not on vacation...

He is physically limited, that is a part of what will hold him back.

Any rookie should get better from year 1 to year 2. That is just the nature of the game. QBs as a group tend to get even better from year 1 to year 2 relatively than other positions. Also, he is going from rookie under Rutgers and his scheme to year 2 under Tedford and his scheme. Lot of potential for improvement there.

It would be foolish to waste a 1st rounder on another option just so they can say 'Atleast we tried', Glennon gives us the option pass on the 'obvious' busts. It does not matter if we are sold on Glennon or not. Glennon definitly did not show he can not be a good QB in NFL.B ut if we think an available QB is better than Glennon we will go for him.Even Brady isnt safe in NE, if Belichick thinks Carr(or what ever QB is available for the pats) is better Brady, then they will go for him, even if you could say they are pretty sold on Brady right now.

Threads like this make me laugh. So by management doing their job and making sure that we have a contingency plan in place, just in case Glennon doesn't work out, or he suffers a major injury, that is supposed to mean that they aren't sold on Glennon? You don't like Glennon, so you are taking their words and adding your personal, wishful context to them. Glennon's salary is cheap, and with the new Rookie Wage Scale, even 1st round QB's are "cheap." A team without a franchise QB would be stupid not to draft at least 1 QB every year until they find that franchise guy.

I would seriously have reservations about lovie if he signed any of these guys.I'd rather he mortgage off the bucs future for teddy, manziel, or bortles, than waste time and money on any of these qb's.We already have a capable backup in glennon, and for one reason or another, that's about all these guys are worth. If the idea is to threaten us with vick to get us to back glennon...I guess it will work.

Thank God you aren't the GM.

Why? Because he's willing to take a chance on an unproven rather than go with a guy proven he's incapable of 2nd half wins? No QB coming out next year is guaranteed to the Bucs. Gotta make moves now if you don't feel Glennon can take us there.

On the other hand, how foolish will the Bucs look if they draft a QB with the number one who turns out to be a big fail only to see Glennon ,after a rookie season with some promise, go to another team to have success. It has happened around here before. It is time to learn from the past mistakes. You make it seem like coaching can't help with the "2nd half wins". Maybe they should have just kept the old coaches around if it was all Mike's fault.

The Bucs wanting to bring in a vet and not being completely sold on Glennon can both be true yet not connected. I think if they were completely sold on Glennon, we'd know it. Right now it seems they are at the very least not sure.

+1Florio drew the connection in his take on an article that did not make that connection

There was a statement made by either Licht or Smith to the effect that Glennon is a past regimes guy and they are looking at all options. Jason Licht -  “New coach, new regime, you can’t just hand the keys over and say this guy is our starter. You have to see what he is, and competition drives the best out of everybody. So, that’s what we’ll be looking for."This is a business when all is said and done.  No one with any sense at all would ride with just 1 QB,  (which is Glennon).  He's young, talented and has a respectable ceiling... I keep harping on it.  If they aren't going to spend a high pick (or two) in getting Bridgewater or Bortles (who I've recently liked a bit more) then get another someone who has a respectable ceiling (Garoppolo) and bring in a vet asa emergency stopgap (McCown.)Greatest ceiling and lowest risk approach  for 2014.  Two guys who could really explode in the right offense and a proven journey man veteran. If it doesn't work, we'll be in position (I can only assume at this point) to pick someone high next year.Every QB in this draft has warts...  TB, BB and JG have the least IMO.
