Another way to look at it is 'can you see an NFL starter' when you watch Glennon play.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
That's the thing, too many people act like there was never anything in his performance that said "starter". I think there were those flashes, but for a lot of people I think the negative emotion and expectations of failure obscured that. It's hard to get stoked when he made good plays, because you knew the team was going to find a way to screw it up later. That's the way the season wen from the very first game. So when he made a great play, people said "yeah, whatever" rather than "Wow!".
IMO, there is no QB worth a top 10 pick this draft. They all have many question marks at the NFL level. Therefore, let's go with Mike to see how the new coaching staff can work with him. They only need to look for a backup QB. How does Aaron Murray sound in rd 4 or 5?
Glennon has tons of questions about him. he should be the backup.
Glennon should be the starter in 2014. If he's not, then I have serious questions about the new regime. He was a rookie last year during the most dysfunctional season a franchise has seen in a while, and yet, in November was named rookie of the month. Fans need to stop drooling over a has-been or some rookie with no upside and realize that we need to use this draft for OL, WR and defensive depth. Glennon's arm strength doesn't grow on trees and we need to see what we have before we just push him to a back up roll.
Most dysfunctional season....ummm, three words...Raheem Morris era. The roster was full of nobodies and freeman looked way better . The numbers are marginal and Glendon's arm isn't quite the cannon many claim. He deserves a fair shot at starting, but he should in no way be guaranteed a starting spot because his stats were padded enough to look like something. He showed a few things that were good, and left many questions as well.
So you want to bank on bringing in the 4th + rated qb (assuming TB, JFF and Bortles are off the market), which means Carr, Garrapolo (sp?) McCarron, or Fales, and have them "do it on his own"?If that is the scenario, give me Glennon, a vet qb and Kafka to fight it out.
Kafka is 4th round trash that can't even stay in the league and there isn't any decent vets out there except maybe McCown but we don't know. He could be another Cassel. If you want that you also want the #1 draft pick in 2015.
The Bucs never won a Super Bowl prior to the 2001 season. It was a coaching change and a few new players that got them there. It all happened in one season.
They were also almost there anyways. We aren't that close now and this isn't the same situation. Coaching might get them into the playoffs but they need time to get players to go further.

Yes but according to you, if it never happened before means it cant happen. Thats your argument about the QB, we've never groomed one before so it will always be that way. Because the only factor in that is location.

Nope, but people keep trying to push that theory. Keep trying it's amusing as he!!. :)
Developing ANY players has not been a Bucs' coaching strength. McKay and Dungy were about it. Schiano actually did well making productive if not great players out of young guys in his 2 years here. Just couldn't figure out how to strategize at the NFL level...
I hope they draft a qb in round one and pick up allen in fa.Even if it costs a bit to move up, they should. We are only a solid qb and de from being a very good team imo. Depending on how tedford wants to build his offense, he has a choice of three different types of qb's.My guess, they'll stay and draft carr. Which isn't providing much more than glennon unfortunately.
If they stay put, and assuming JFF, Bortles and TB are off the board, along with Clowney, doesn't that mean that at least one of Watkins, Robinson, Matthews or Mack will be there? If Carr is about the same as Glennon, in your opinion, why not roll with Glennon and get a better prospect at LT, WR or DE, if they put Mack there, instead of passing on that area of possible upgrade, and settle for a marginal (maybe) improvement at QB. If Tedford is as good as people say he is, I want to see him coach Glennon, and the team gets to improve one of their big needs. I'm not saying Glennon is Unitas/Jorgensen/Starr/Montana, I'm simply saying if Carr is on par with Glennon, why not take a chance on someone that will be an improvement over Penn, Underwood (maybe Williams if he doesn't clean up his act), or Bowers?

If Glennon/Vet/Kafka doesn't work, doesn't that give you the chance at Mariota or Winston? Giving them a solid LT or WR option this year, and getting one of them next year, doesn't that set the Bucs up nicely? moreso then taking a chance on any of the 2nd tier qbs this year?
'Moose', that's been my point all off-season. Unless we (as in Licht, Lovie, Tedford) are all ABSOLUTELY convinced one of these QBs has MORE upside than Glennon, it makes ZERO sense to draft him in round 1. There are a slew of rookies at OTHER positions which ARE clear upgrades over guys at those positions now on our roster.

Ummm...yes, you've said that. We can't develop a QB because we never have before. Past does not dictate present or future when it comes to that. Statistics would tell you that we are MORE likely to be able to do it as the time line continues.

Okay, so let me see if I understand. Due to the location of the team, the Bucs can only develop defensive 1st rd players from the draft as we have 3 in the Hall of Fame. It would be a waste of time to attempt to ever develop a QB here as it has never been done in Tampa. Therefore, in order to ever have a franchise QB here we either need to steal him from another team, or he must fall from the sky. I just have a hard time going with this plan. ::)

Exactly, and I hope the Bucs brass has that mindset. I don't think there is anybody who is saying Glennon is irreplaceable, but when there are clear upgrades at other spots, and we have a shot at them, we need to take it.

His stats aren't awful. The "favorites" of the he sucks and will never ever be a starter and I know it and am sure that he can never get better crowd are:1. Low YPA. Problem is diving into this you find he didn't throw short an inordinate amount of the time, he threw short less than Luck for example. He wasn't less efficient or effective downfield than guys like Rodgers or Brady or Luck. His YPA problem was because when he threw short he got short gains. His YPA throwing short was about 2 yards less than Brady or Rodgers or Luck. In other words, his problem was that we were not converting short to long on his throws. That isn't the story some folks want to tell.2. Awful in the second half. While he was awful in the second half he was better when tied or trailing than ahead for example. He was better behind by less than a TD than ahead more than a touchdown. He was better on the road than at home. In other words, it isn't that he chokes when the heat is on or he isn't money. It is that he was bad in the second half. The problem is there has to be another explanation for that disparity in ratings. I am not sold he has a ton of upside but he showed a lot more intriguing skills than I expected last year.
