I don't agree with much Vin has said in this thread, but he's right about the PR part. That's not the problem - they played that well. It's that the product is a miss.
Nike isn't bullet proof. I was at the unveiling of the "Tampa Bay Mutiny" concept . . . let's hope the Bucs have better results. lol. The product may be a "miss" (I like it though), but this message board is for the most part the same type of test audience as the old Rowdie fan base was for the Mutiny concept. That was my point.
The problem with that Vin is that - at least from the twitter feed stuff I've seen - the helmet polled well when it was released. This is not polling well. Mutiny's uniforms were horrific by almost any standard. Speaking of Nike uniform's failures, today they released a USMNT jersey that appears to be Wimbledon ready.
I can get on board with what they did with the USMNT kits. It becomes less of a jersey and more of universal type of shirt - almost like how they've done the athletic polo with Tiger Woods gear. It won't take nearly as much getting used to as these Bucs Unis will. I, for one, actually like the USMNT release tbh
Well played, sir. Well played.
One of the funnier things I have seen on here in a long time.I'm waiting for the next Bucs press release..."Not only will the new uniforms show the world what time it is, they will randomly "go off" and buzz repeatedly like a real alarm clock during all home games. The only way to shut them offwill be to pop the player on the top of the helmet. This will make the player go into snooze mode."
I loved the changed from orange to red with the last uniform. These? Not so much.
Those jerseys are awful. Might look good for a college team, but not for a team with an already well-established and well-like look. I could live with almost any of it, but the DIGITAL NUMBERS are a joke.I never knew I could hate Dom and Schiano any more than I already did. How the Galzers signed off on this, I'll never know.
Utterly disgusting...awful.if the last uniforms ushered in a great era of Bucs then we may never win a game again. AWFUL!!!! UGLY!!!!
Someone on another football forum that I frequent mocked up a home version...
Pr was awful and the product is lacking. Unless pr focus was to get the fan to say, "well I guess in real life it's not that bad"
Game Time - what pr "move" would have helped a product you say you don't like? The reality is the Bucs have had people discussing them since the helmet changes were announced. The drip, drip, drip of teases has caused it to stay front and center.
I agree with Bucs n beers post #226. No one is talking about the Bucs, we had a 5 min blip on nfl network. Quality photos showing the true colors is all I ask for from the pr dept
Fonts are powerful?W...t...f...It is a horrible font. But it doesn't make Akeem Spence look weak. And I haven't even seen him in that garb yet...
Maybe you haven't noticed but the fonts used on the Hello Kitty lunch boxes are different than on Batman lunch boxes. Seems the fifth grader working for Nike that came up with this change should have caught that.
I haven't read most of the pages for this thread so I'm pretty sure my feelings won't be unique regarding this change.I love it....except for the number font....it's not hideous but I'd have preferred the Pirate font as used on the old practise unis.

well, I agree and that really goes to BR's comment about the helmet v the uni, as well. The uni is more controversial because it is a dramatic departure, the helmet not so much. heck, there were people suggesting a minor tweak to the uni, so its not surprising to me. The uni could be a complete failure, but we need more time and broader discourse first. funny thing is if they win we don't need anything

today was the sneak peak, the current Google has Fox, CBS, SI, ESPN, Times, NBC . . . all running a story on the uni . . . that was likely drafted by Bucs PR/Nike . .lol
Never let it be said that I don't admit when I'm wrong. Here I was convinced that I hated the new helmets but it turns out I only actually disliked them, hate is what I feel for this new pile of monkey turd they are passing off as a uniform.

I think this "people dislike change" argument is hilarious. Something looks great or it doesn't. It has nothing to do with people rejecting any change. If this new uni is done well and a major upgrade, it will be viewed as that and it will sell like hot cakes. If it continues to trend on the internet as a complete failure, then it will not sell and make us a butt of jokes and we will have a new uniforms next year. The fear of change argument is just an excuse for a poorly executed design.
But it helps insecure people feel better about themselves if they can attribute differing opinions to some character flaw of the person holding that opinion.

Exactly. This isn't 1996 anymore. what ESPN covers on TV isn't even 1/4 of the conversation anymore.Go here and look at the hundreds of comments and the 5k Facebook likes. http://www.buccaneers.com/news/article-1/New-Uniform-Design-Unveiled/b8944519-d276-482a-a9e7-d800fabb9401
