I'm seeing lots of posts about this and I understand the confusion, the media really doesn't help.

But 4-3 and 3-4 are outmoded comparisons. First, because 3-4 used to two-gap on the DL and 4-3 one-gap and Jimmy Johnson changed that. Now with so many hybrid players and now sub packages being the primary defense it doesn't exist anymore.

Here's a good (short) discussion: https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2018/3/1/17067442/detroit-lions-defensive-scheme-question-matt-patricia-2018

The Bucs aren't "going to a 3-4". Yes, the defense will change under Bowles with some different responsibilities but STOP thinking of it as a move to 3-4 and figuring out personnel.

The Bucs will be 70% in Nickel personnel - a better question is what will the nickel personnel be? Whether JPP or Nassib are standing up or hand in the dirt is a meaningless difference.

And like every NFL team (and the Bucs under Smith) they'll switch between two-gap and one-gap plays and mix them up on the same play.
