In The Athletic's article about non-QB MVPs for 2024 I was suprised about who was chosen as the Bucs selection...
Chris Godwin, wide receiver
Mike Evans gets most of the attention, but Godwin remains one of football’s better receivers. He had more receptions than Evans in four of the last five seasons, including the last three. The Bucs believe he will have more yards this year because they intend to use him more in the slot and less outside. At 28, Godwin is at the height of his abilities and he should be at the height of his desire — his contract is up after this season. — Dan Pompei
Although he makes a good argument, I think it's a stretch to make him the team non-QB MVP considering the Bucs drafted McMillan to share some of the catches this year. Is Godwin really at the "height" of his abilities? Most Bucs fans would say he has something left in the tank, but he's not as good as he once was.
Who is your prediction for non-QB MVP for 2024?
I'm going to make my own sleeper non-QB MVP pick - Calijah Kancey. I think with some experience from last year and a full year this year as well as some good play from his linemates such as new draftee Braswell Kancey could be the beneficiary and wreak havoc in the backfield this year.
I don’t think it would be Godwin but a couple easy reasons to suggest that: 1) playing for contract and 2) last year he was placed outside and this year he will be back inside.

You can include the QB, as the answer wouldn't change.
Same guy as last year.
AWJ.
Baker trolling is still just an opinion - but I’m not sure why anyone needs to single out the QB that was the catalyst for winning the division and took our team to a playoff win and had us in it till he threw the pick and ended it - 8 points short of victory in the waning moments - without a running game?
I normally chalk it up to just trying to head-off the Baker-boi group - but now I’m suspecting some are just trolling for them?
Guess we’re not all hoping Baker gets a bigger contract?
Opinions abound.
^^^^^solid guess^^^^^
Thanks.
I mean, it was't a very difficult decision to me.
He was EASILY the best and most valuable player on the entire roster last year (much to the chagrin of few chapped-ass groupies). Hence, the All-Pro 1st Team nod, defensive POY consideration, and resulting contract that made him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history.
He would have to be followed by either Evans or Wirfs. Both, rightfully earning All-Pro honors and rounding out the rest of the ELITE players on the roster (you can make the argument for LVD, even if he's in his twilight).
For 2025, I would expect Winfield Jr. to continue on his HoF path and be the team's MVP again (and for years to come).
That's who my money is on.
Love AWJ …clearly saves several games, some at the last moments. He earned it last season.
Hope it’s more difficult this season, but won’t be sad if any Buccaneer player rises to the MVP status.
He's the obvious pick based on last year and he got the contract to prove it. He's the spark that ignites the defense, but to me what fun is it to pick the obvious guy? I was trying to think of a player who might emerge to be this year's MVP. If any Buccaneer is primed to emerge from good player to team MVP it's Kancey IMO.Love AWJ …
If you are going to ask this and we didn't win the SB then I would break it down by Offense and Defense. I would vote AWJ and ME.
The QB raised in a non-QB thread?
trask?
oh, Mayfield
I think Baker is more of an annoyance to some Buc fans than they’re willing to admit - otherwise it was just interesting that someone would list the starting QB in a comment - of a specifically non-QB MVP post.
Seems Baker lives rent-free in many Bucs fans head.!
Don’t feel too badly about it, he seems to be in Ty Hill’s head, too.
Ahh well, the off-season!
The only two posters I see mentioning the starting QB is one of the groupies and the guy who can't stop talking about Trask.
Weird...
