There's a lot of talk about this being a defensive heavy draft class for the Bucs. But what would it look like if we prioritized the offensive side of the ball?
1 - RT Jawaan Taylor
*trade down to 10 (Denver)
2a - RG Chris Lindstrom
2b - RB Miles Sanders
3 - CB Jamel Dean
4 - DL Trysten Hill
Offense is on all-madden mode with a draft like this. Evans, Godwin, Howard, Brate, Perriman, Barber, and Sanders. Smith76, Marpet, Jensen, Lindstrom, Taylor.
Protection for the downhill passing scheme? Check. A run game for the first time since Jameis' rookie year? Check. Play action concepts? Check. Prioritizing the offense could strengthen that side of the ball enough to be the next Saints, Patriots, Packers, Steelers.. if we get the ball at the end of the game we will win.
I do think Jamel Dean is a starting CB, and a pretty good one. He was Carlton Davis' counterpart at auburn. Some scouts think he is better than CD3, who looked good last year as a rookie in a bad situation.
We could work him into the nickel, he ran a sub 4.30 at the combine which I believe was tops among CBs. But eventually I see him and Carlton outside, Hargreaves in the slot. We still have solid depth with Debate Harris and Ryan Smith, plus I still think we could sign Morris Claiborne at somepoint before the season begins.
Even if McCoy is gone, we have JPP, Vea, Nassib, Gholston, Beau Allen, and 4th round pick Trysten Hill out of UCF. That's a solid group for a 3-4.
It sounds like the plan is to play Lavonte at ROLB. That means Deonne Bucanon and Kevin Minter are your inside backers, and LOLB would be Nassib on early downs (Gholston at DE) and when Nassib replaces Gholston on passing downs Devante Bond and Noah Spence will compete for opportunities. A couple of depth signings/rookies will be necessary to supplement that group.
Safety is a mixed bag. Plenty of guys but unclear who the starters are. Justin Evans, Andrew Adams, Jordan Whitehead, MJ Stewart.. my guess is Evans/Whitehead. Adams will rotate in and out. MJ is depth/special teams.
