You can say that about any player at any position. The question is about value. Do I want a guy who can play 60% of the snaps at 7 overall? Especially if I can get somebody like Dee Ford possibly with the second round pick?I want to point out that I'm not putting Khalil Mack down as only a situational player - I haven't figured it out yet.
1. Mack would likely be playing close to 100% of the snaps if he was playing SLB on running downs. 2. It's entirely arguable even if he were only playing 60% of the snaps, the 40% he isn't playing aren't very important. Who cares if a running back might get 7 yards on a play rather than 4? 3. It's certainly possible Dee Ford or someone else could do the same thing.
I think this thread is a good reason to NOT draft him.Play him in at another position.Put weight on him.Try this, try that.Change this.IMO, if your drafting a player with the 7th pick in the draft, he should pretty much be plug and play.
Brian Urlacher says "hi".All players have to modify their play to meet the needs of the team. It isn't about making him something that he isn't. It's about maxmizing his talents. My recommendations allows for us to use his talents as a backer and a pass rusher.

That's a great idea.. Let him be the beast he is.

So we know what downs are important and will yank him from those that aren't? My problem with point 1 is that this is the Tampa Bay Bucs, not another team. Where have you seen Lovie or Leslie Frazier utilize a player like that? That's why I say if we are going to take Mack, it will be with the belief that he can handle the DE job.

Urlacher was plug and play - he basically played LB in college (Lobo-back had some safety-like coverage responsibilities), and there was no doubt that he'd be a linebacker in the pros. The only debate was inside or outside.

True, but he was put in the best position to showcase his talents and he had to fit in an NFL defense. Mack, while not the beast Urlacher was, can play backer and rush the passer from the edge. Lovie and Leslie are smart guys and I am sure they could fit Mack into their system if he were drafted.

but is Mack such an undeniable talent that you 'fit' him into your system?
I can see Mack failing PED tests once he gets to the NFL , which scares me.If this dude isn't juicing then no one is , lol.

That doesn't look like roads to me. He's really proportional and muscular but not huge. He's got some cut arms with veins because he s lean and athletic but those arms aren't up achievable at all. If he were on roads he'd actually look a lot bigger in the arms and chest.
Not sure if serious...he looks like he is ready to explode.

He's very ripped but he doesn't have that look that guys like McGuire got when juicing where they were too big. He is a fully maxxed out player. I don't see room for a lot of additional bulk but I see a ton of weight room work there.

He is ripped, but he is 22. He'll fill out a little and add some bulk. Everyone does as they get a little older. Even athletes.
My Roidar has gone off...sorry.

Nah, He's cut but so isn't Dakota Watson. If he were that shredded at 275 then I'd be concerned but I'm not real worried. The guy is a beast. In my eyes we have to take Bridgewater if he's available or Mack if Teddy isn't. If we can't get either we move to down to 13-15th and take that TE Ebron on UNC.
Don't get me wrong I like Mack , but you don't see many college kids already that ripped. Better ask some major questions in the Interview process , that's all.I still can't believe BridgeWater would actually fall to us. I think some teams are smokrscreening
