Would love to have heard the network pre-production meeting with Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield…

The Bucs won a Super Bowl because of Brady's incredible talent AND because he put everyone under that pressure.  That works when you are the GOAT and a leader and the team has a lot of talent and you win (Brady's point).

That pressure does NOT work when you show up late, skip out for the Kraft event, have divided coaching (created by that "pressure" and your late reversal) and the team does not win (the thought behind the stories that Mayfield acknowledged).

I was surprised that Mayfield gave that insight.

I didnt hear it but did Brady own any of it? He responded on a broadcast, so maybe not?

(Brady is, of course, an incredible source of knowledge. His challenge as a broadcaster will be  can he be more relatable? Can he move toward the Olson and Romo models? The audience is probably only 25% diehard football geeks and 75% everyday fans. Never bet against the guy)

Brady Stress" "champion mentality" for teams liek the Broncos like we do for the Lions we get 13+wins.

Youmight be hitting on a critical difference of the many differences between Brady and Mayfield.

Just using todays game as an example, Mayfield's play was pretty fantastic until they had the lead and then it seemed to dip.

And then if you go to the Broncos game, Mayfield's play is the most obvious reason for getting behind early.

Maybe Mayfield is at his very best when the game is on the line, but not very good when it is not? Not sure

Let's not forget that it was 7-0 Broncos before Mayfield even stepped on the field. The hot knife through butter opening drive by the Broncos was unacceptable.

Dam, after the Bucs defeat of the Lions, the Bucs were SB bound. One bad (and I mean really bad) loss to the Broncos and the Bucs will be in third place behind the Saints and Falcons. Bi-Polar? Hopefully the Bucs just had a bad game and will bounce back this Sunday. If they do, than it is SB bound once again. A loss and there will be disease and pestilence, and the Hillsborough River will turn blood red.

I never said anything about being Super Bowl bound after defeating the Lions so where you got that is beyond me.

Our reign at the top of the South is over. If you look at our schedule I see only 8 wins max. I'm guessing 7-10. Our team is not deep enough to withstand injuries either and that's part of the reason we go nowhere this season.

If Denver can take us to the woodshed imagine what real teams like KC, Philly, Baltimore, SanFran, Dallas, Atlanta and even New Orleans can do to us. By the eye test Atlanta is clearly better than us and so is New Orleans.

No pass rush with terrible D-Line. Braswell was a terrible draft pick, Shoyinka is average, Yaya is bad even though I thought he would have a great year. Philly will run all over us this weekend

No run game with terrible O-Line. One guy goes down and our line can't block my grandma. Just pathetic and Wirfs needs to take responsibility for his horrendous play so far. He gets paid and all of a sudden can't block no name DE"s. Wirfs is overrated. If he was so good why can't we run on the left side? He should be a mauler, but he's not.

Mike Evans. I love Mike, but it's time to stop babying him. I've never seen a receiver that's supposed to be one of the best have to go sit on the sideline after every catch. It's like every catch is a struggle with him. Toughen up Mike. This team needs you.

Cohen. I haven't seen anything good since the first game. What happened to the supposed genius play calling? A great coordinator calls plays that lessens the load on a porous O-Line. I haven't seen any of that.

  • I love my Bucs, but reality is reality. We just aren't that good.

LOL...this didn't last long....And they still won....Never give up!!! Go Buc's!!

They won because Philly had no one to throw to. Love the Bucs won, but they'll have to beat Atlanta and New Orleans for me to buy into it. We both know that's not going to happen.

They won because they drove the ball 60-70 yds for TDs on their first two drives and got 3 and outs. Definitely get the point about their receivers but the Bucs still played well

Are you new to football?

2020 -

Bucs are 3-1, lose to the Chicago Bears in a 20-19 game.  What the heck is that?  Drop to 3-2.  This Brady squad isn't its all cracked up to be

Bucs are 6-2, get their asses kicked by the Saints 38-3.  Wow!  Other than the Packers, have we beaten a winning team yet?

Bucs are 7-3, then drop two straight games against Rams and Chiefs to fall to 7-5.  We are just a house of cards

We then play 4 shit opponents - Vikings, Falcons (x2) and Detroit and don't lose another game - scoring 31 pts a game beating Commanders, Saints, Packers, and Chiefs to a Super Bowl Championship.

Would say we did not meet expectations at several points during the year.  were we frauds?  ended up working out

OVERACHIEVED - SUPER BOWL CHAMPS

2021

Start out 2-0.  Time to get redemption against the Rams. Nope!

We are 6-1.  Time to get redemption against Saints.  Nope!

What the hell is this commanders game?  we lost by 10 points?  holy hell

We are 10-3, Saints coming up again.  Now, let's get it!  No, 9-0; lose Godwin for the year

We go on to beat the Eagles in the playoffs but against the Rams, we are without Godwin, AB, and Wirfs.  We rally to come back only to fall short 30-27 after being down 27-3. This was one loss that i was actually proud of the fight of this team.  Little did i know this was the last we'd see of the actual Brady Bucs.

ACHIEVED EXPECTATIONS - ONCE INJURIES AND LUNATICS HAPPENED, SEASON WAS UPHILL TO REPEAT

2022 - You had every right to be negative about this year.  It sucked.  Our worst year since 2020.  We will see how 2024 ends up but as far as completed seasons.  brutal to watch given the expectations

UNDERACHIEVED - WE WILL BLANK THIS OUT OF OUR MEMORIES WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE BRADY ERA YEARS FROM NOW

2023

Team started out 3-1, laid eggs against Detroit and Atlanta in back to back home games.  Then lost to superior Buffalo and blew a lead with like 40 seconds against Houston.  At 3-5, riding a 4 game skid.  Absolutely no hope for this team.

They beat the lowly Titans only to lose back to back games against SF and Colts to fall to 4-7.   This team is done.  Why hasn't Baker been benched and Bowles fired yet?  Ridiculous after starting out 3-1.

We then win 4 games in a row, only to lay a turd against the Saints and barely scratch our way to a divisional title with a 9-0 victory over the Panthers.

Suddenly, a dominating performance against the Eagles and neck and neck with Lions only to fall short with 4th quarter being dominated on both sides of the ball.

OVERACHIEVED - WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A RESET YEAR AND END UP MAINTAINING THAT WINNING CULTURE

2024

Call me crazy, but this team looks alot like the 6-2 last half of last year team than it does the .500 squad in 2022, first half of 2023.

We beat the Lions on the road, and dominated a toss up game against the Eagles.  They were down their receivers, but it wasn't like we were at full strength either and we beat them by 17 points.

yes the Denver loss will never get out our heads this year but only look at previous years to see that shit happens.

a long dissertation for sure but the season is not over tomorrow night with a loss...and like i said, we could be 4-6 after this stretch and im still pretty optimistic, if healthy, we will be vying for a playoff spot!

UNDERACHIEVED - WE WILL BLANK THIS OUT OF OUR MEMORIES WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE BRADY ERA YEARS FROM NOW

So true. You don't hear people talk about the "stayed one season too long" for most of the greats

Favre was a legend, 6-10 in his last year after a 12-4 season before

Aikman closed out with a loaded older team but only went 8-8 (10 wins before) and then stuck around for one more even with maybe had 5 wins? (not sure)

Marino's Dolphins were a 10 win playoff team and then he stayed one more and eventually went down with a shoulder injury and they collapsed

Maybe the closest comparison to Brady would be would be Montana because he went to the Chiefs and took them to the AFC championship, but then came back one more year and they were .500 I think, missed the playoffs. Could be wrong.

The "stayed one season too long" thing is pretty common.  I mean, Michael Jordan finished with the Wizards!

Most people never factor that last bad season into the greatness discussion.

This is Football at it's finest, you never give up and every team has to deal with injuries. Warren Sapp always said "it's a game of inches" and If the Defense can hold the opposing teams offense to 17 pts or less then they should win every game. Baker makes this happen. I learn something new everyday about football. Go Buc's.
