First of all, I think we should fire Lovie Smith. Let me just get that out of the way lol. With that being said I discussed this article with a few Jags friends of mine the other day http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000562377/article/jacksonville-jaguars-showing-promising-growth-despite-15-start The article argued that despite a severe lack of wins, Gus deserves more time to coach the Jags. Reason being, the Jags have not invested any high picks on defense, because the plan was to build the offense first, and than address the defense. When you look at the Jags Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, and Yeldon all look great so far. Bortles has made huge strides, and Robinson is quietly a top 15 WR in the NFL. Yeldon has looked great, and Hurns continues to produce big plays. So it's possible to argue that the places where the Jags have attempted to build have actually gotten better. Therefore, when the focus shifts to the defense, they will find similar success. This is a similar situation to the Bucs.We have invested a ton into the offense. So far it has paid off. Evans looks elite. Winston shows tremendous promise. Our two rookie o-lineman open up holes for a top 5 back statistically in the NFL. ASJ, when healthy, looked promising this year. With that being said, does Lovie deserve more time to build the defense with high end draft picks?Once again, I think we should fire him. I just think he's awful at managing games and does not play to win. But this article did present a different perspective I thought was interesting.
