I like Gruden, but many this is a Gruden fans description of his tenure
they were playing meaningful games in December with him. Aside from 2004 and 2006, every season was in the running. It was exciting time to be a fan.
2003 - - MISSED PLAYOFFS - team in total disarray, largely because of Gruden forcing out McKay etc.
2004 -- MISSED PLAYOFFS again . . . with a TON of talent
2005 - this is a playoff year BUT its also the year that totally ENDED GRUDEN because he made a late pivot and took Caddy over . . . Aaron Rodgers. He did that IN PART because "Bruce Allen was his puppet"
2006 -- MISSED PLAYOFFS
2007, - made playoffs BUT barely in a division with every other team sub .500 and knocked out 1st round
2008 - MISSED PLAYOFFS
and the point I’m making that in even in 2003 and 2008, albeit terrible endings, we were playing meaningful football in December
give whoever you want credit (as I’m sure we can give Bowles credit for the 2020 Super Bowl run) but under Gruden as head coach is something we would only dream of from 2009 to 2019
”Gruden great because what followed was bad.”
huh.
The Bucs struggled for many reasons post-Gruden but chief among them is the Brooks/Kiffin/Sapp defense was no more, ie the defense that Gruden relied upon to limp the team into the playoffs (twice in 6 years) with QBs like Simms, Gradkowski, Garcia ..
Gruden seemed to believe his own hype, that the success of the offense (and the team) was really him. Who needs Aaron Rodgers?
Didn’t realize Gruden was still doing anything with the league. What ever became of his lawsuit? I thought he was blackballed.

Its on appeal
The local judge didn't send it to arbitration so the NFL appealed and asked for a stay
I dont think they can keep him from working as an outside consultant? Not sure if he was actually hired by the team?
All he had to do was start Luke McCown this game and his career, McCown's career and the Bucs franchise would have been different.

Offense scored 7 points in 5 qtr in what was essentially a playoff game. Brian Griese never played another snap.
Grudens time ended in tampa in that 4th quarter on monday night against the panthers

That was always a incorrect statement. The Bryan Clark blocked punt in Atlanta was one of the greatest plays in franchise history was that was WASTED because Griese couldn't get the ball in the endzone. Bucs were 9 yards away from the playoffs.
