Dean ranked 18 for CB's: "Dean is as consistent as they come, as he has earned a 70.0-plus coverage grade in all five of his seasons as a pro. He recorded a career-high 18 stops in 2023 and has missed a grand total of 15 tackles in his five-year career."

No other Bucs CB ranked in top 32.

AWJ ranked 1 for Safeties: "Winfield, who became the NFL's highest-paid defensive back this offseason, was the highest-graded safety in the league last season (90.7).The 25-year-old's 92.0 PFF overall grade over the past three seasons leads the position, and his run-defense and pass-rush grades rank first among safeties, too."

No other Bucs ranked in top 32. I'm kind of surprised Whitehead isn't ranked in top 32/

i mean that should come as no surprise and why cornerback is a major concern heading into the season

they should likely add a surprise veteran cut this summer as insurance albeit not a great answer

Outside of Dean, you have Zyon McCollumn

you then have 2nd year, and rookie guys in Christia Izien and Tykee Smith

Jordan Whitehead likely isn't the top 32 safety in the league but yeah would top 40 perhaps

i think the starting group can get by in a game and be serviceable.  what concerns me is the guaranteed losses for the 4 games Dean misses.

I hope everyone keeps sleeping on Hall.

IMO, he will end up starter by mid-season.

Not so bold prediction: Bucs will move on from Dean next year

A DB with zero INT's in the good year 2024 is crazy.

Whitehead and Hall are flying under the radar with McCollum.  I like it.

Now if T. Smith can upgrade nickel Bucs are cooking on the backend if the front seven do their jobs.

Just saw the Bryce Hall press conference, was very impressed. Smart, humble, kind. If his play is as good, he could be simply competent on the field, and the secondary will be improved with his addition.

There seems to be a thread of an edge to this team, and I like it.

Barring an All-Pro type of year, I see the same.

Post 6/1 cut next year, and they can spread his near $7M dead cap over 2025 and 2026, while saving $13M in cap for 2025.

I watched Bryce play some back in '20-'21.  Against the Chiefs iirc, so small sample size, but he was good, that I remember.  His problem was Sauce is just that much better.  But I remember thinking back in 2021 that he could start for just about any team in the NFL.  I doubt he'll be any kind of liability for TB; he could be the best/one of your best DBs by season's end.
