Hey Everyone,
I know there are a lot of strong emotions concerning Winston. I have up and down thoughts concerning him too. One day, I think he is done. The next, I think that maybe he could be great. I wanted to open up a thread for us to just talk about this without slamming one another. Here's where I am today (who knows what I will think tomorrow):
I watched that Duke QB on Saturday and concluded that there is no way he gives us a better chance to win than Winston. Also, I don't think there are any FA QB's worth replacing Winston with. Bridgewater was never great to begin with. He looked like he might be good... but not great. Then he got massively injured. Two different teams have given up on him since he returned from injury. Yes, he looked good in the preseason this year... but so did RG3. So, realistically, if Winston was a FA this summer, he would be the most sought after QB.
Given that this year's QB draft class and FA class aren't spectacular... and Winston has at times shown the ability to be unbelievably good... he seems like the best option... at least for the next season.
The other thought I have is that given the reality that Winston has shown real flashes from time to time, it seems like it is at least worth seeing what he would do with a different offensive system. There have been plenty of good QB's who played better or worse depending on the offensive system and coordinator. It is so hard to find a franchise QB that it seems pretty crazy to not make absolutely sure Winston's issues couldn't be corrected with different coaching.
So, in short... what do we have to lose by changing coaches and the system, and seeing what Winston could do next season?
Let's keep away from making this particular thread a bunch of making fun of each other... and just give thoughtful opinions/perspectives.
