Just needs to be said that Banks was demoted to start the season as his skills are not for Cover 2. He is man to man and needs to press at line and with the new rules on defense he is basically becoming a dinosaur. The rules favor a big wideout against a corner with no real deep speed. He will always be flagged as Wideouts will come back to the ball as he is trying to catch up. Essentially he is a first down waiting to happen. It will be flagged all year. The contact rules are also to his disfavor. He fell in the draft on boards due to his hips and slow times. Now he is the starter on one side with Jenkins out. We are really exposed. I don't even want to talk about 29. Seeing him cover fast wideouts is laughable. Mason Foster is not suited to cover wideouts Or tight ends and his pass coverage is still very poor. Very slow on recognition and a decent tackler but he is not built to play this scheme. Bowers is a player who is Tarzan looking and sits in the tub or plays like Jane. What a waste of a pick. I think about who we could have drafted and how much better we could be if we would honestly evaluate our squad. The Offensive Line is very thin. One injury and we are in deep trouble. I mean really bad. I predicted 3 wins at best in Early August. I feel now that this may have been too generous. We don't have a solid grinder at running back and Doug Martin is frankly not elite. He is looking like Cadillac Williams more and more to me. He does not play with heart out there. His runs rarely finish forward unlike Rainey who was essentially a walk on. Here are the questions Why do we have open cap space and not have signed Devon Hester? That is bizarreWhy did we not try and get Sproles or Woodhead? Why did Tampa leave Luis Murphy in a preseason game and expose him to injury when he was a great slot? What is our plan for Center should we lose EDS? Why did we not plan for a Guard back up plan long before we grasped at straws to get Mankins? How many teams go far in football without a franchise QB or a stellar o line? We have neither. We have a lot of players that are not resigned that are playing half tail as they know they are gone from here without a new contract. See Dougie as exampleWe might have a safety that is doing the same. Then we have guys like Bowers who is here because we had owners let a GM dump a guy like Bennett for a mistake and silly reach in a draftWe lack Elite talent on many key levels, especially special teams. I blame Lovie for this. He could have gotten Hester. He CHOSE not tooVincent Jackson is fading and no longer has deep speed. We have given away s many talented players for little to no compensation over the last several seasons. A lot of this is due to poor drafting and a lot of it comes down to a poor leadership in corralling this on the team. We don't have leaders like better teams that keep idiots with talent in line. Say what you will about Sapp and Brooks and Lynch and Ronde but we don't have a single leader on this teams like one of those guys. We also lack a running back with the fire of Alstott. Great coaches develop leaders. Gruden and Dungy did these things as did Marinelli. Do we have the type of coaches that will do this now? I just don't know. I see a clubhouse that is fragmenting. When it unravels if we drop to 0-5, watch outJust a prediction. It could be worse than Raheem
