kinda like when you hand the ball off to a White on the first down, and he gets absorbed at the LOS for no gain, yet everyone excuses him for the poor line play? You know what’s funny about threads like this… when Baker has all day and his first read is open it’s Baker Baker Baker Baker. When he has to go through progressions quickly and put the team on his back it’s everyone else’s fault
Weird the same doesn’t apply to the passing game?
Weird that a former GM wouldn’t realize that not being able to run block, or pass block, doesn’t give the QB enough time, either.
Baker doesn’t need much time, he showed that he improved getting the ball out by a full second over last year, and was the fastest, or one of the fastest to get rid of the football in week one…so even with that he was still sacked 7x today.
Weird that Baker made such bad decisions today - totally without any reason - and totally unlike either previous game? For the first time he wasn’t able to find a way.
Weird that Rachaad White was exactly like he’s been in every game this season and last season. Also, totally without reason - he just runs into tacklers and goes down?
Weird.
No doubt. Decision making breaks down under a 7 sack game.
Yes, especially when you're causing a number of them because you won't get off your first read and think you're an elite athlete and decide to tuck up and run into blocked defenders after refusing to get to a 2nd read.
Baker surely made some bad decisions, but the reason for the problem wasn’t Baker.
You said the same thing last week, when he threw into double coverage for a pick. You blamed the routes. You blamed the receivers. You blamed the OC. You magically didn't blame the guy who made the decision to throw the ball into said situation.
Just like today when he telegraphed that pass, essentially giving Denver the shortest field possible.
The fact is that the line just really sucked. Unlike the 5x he was sacked in Detroit, and the 1 sack he took against the football team, this time the line play was so bad that there were no exit lanes, no way to get outside to extend the play.
Nobody is saying the line played well. Simply saying he didn't either. You are simply making excuses for him (not surprising). There were outs, multiple underneaths and outlets. He was lasered in on Godwin and wouldn't look anywhere else.
You know, it’s kinda like how you excuse White for not hitting holes that aren’t there…except Baker usually finds a way out, White only seems to show up in the passing game.
Unlike you, I have criticized White for continuing to dance too much. Though it's gotten better.
Thats ok though, it sounds like they’re going to Bucky, earlier in the game, maybe that will supply just enough consideration by opposing defenses, that maybe Baker will get a few more ticks.
Yes. Hopefully, we come out with a run plan that involves nothing but Pony packages, misdirections, reverses, and other eye-candy based gimmick calls; because Bucky wasn't doing shit without it. Just like White.
But you’re technically accurate. Baker did make a couple of quizzical mistakes.
Maybe Baker should spend less time talking about how Brady stressed out his teammates and more time working on getting past his first read before trying to be a poor man's version of Lamar.
Better yet, maybe he should chat with his OC about how he had a week to prep for the disaster at RG and RT and did absolutely nothing to game plan for it.
Speaking of quizzical, hopefully the divisional foe QB with multiple ACL tears and multiple Achilles tears has a tough time against KC tonight.
I believe alive criticized Baker for plays, but since there were two pass plays, where two receivers ran the same routes - I think it’s possible that the OC set it up wrong, since the receivers couldn’t have run the wrong routes.
Look. You don’t like Baker, I get it. However, we’ve seen that Baker has had a knack for extending plays and buying time - today the defense paid attention to where the repetitive weakness were.
Baker didn’t cause the sacks, Baket couldn’t get away from the pressure and ate it 7x - he’s usually pretty adept at avoiding sacks. So I think getting sacked 7x may have been on the Denver defense figuring out o-line & QB tendencies under pressure. Coen & Carberry were trying to keep those hidden for another week…but Denver watched film.
on two plays in the same series, I watched Baker avoid two Denver linemen, only to escape but get smashed by a delayed third rush linemen.
You blame who you want, you can excuse White all you want. But the fact is, Baker wasn’t much of problem today, but White wasn’t a solution. You may be right about Baker, that this game was squarely on him and that maybe Trask would have played better?
or maybe you’re just pissed because this is the first time you’ve been able to blame a game on Baker and you couldn’t wait to wade in in and attack, after having to eat your words for the past 2 weeks.
Don’t worry, Goedeke will be back and Baker will likely get a bit more time, and maybe that will allow us to scheme up some plays to take advantage of Baker’s noted mobility?
Maybe that will allow your boi Rachaad to move the ball forward in the run game? If not, it was nice seeing Bucky show up in the run game.
Did you notice that Bucky seems to be creeping up the yardage chart, while White is sliding down?
Wonder if that will play out in how many carries each get next week?
No one really cares about your Baker trolling. Most have already concluded we’re better off with him, than without him…some, like you, are just tethered to another reality.
You don’t like Baker, I get it.
Dude, it's not that anybody "doesn't like Baker." It's the fact you will not or cannot criticize his play, no matter how bad it is. Maybe you're related to him, or his agent, but it's weird because you can have good takes when it doesn't involve Baker.

Lmfao wut?
Where are you drawing this insane reach?
Baker was bad today. Coen was equally bad maybe worse.
White - I'm not sure what to make of him because Baker missed him in the flat a few times and he had a TD that should have counted. But Bucky and the eye ball test. It's not really close. Make it 50/50 despite my FF team
He was definitely shafted on the TD, but fortunately, we were able to score anyways.
There's no question that Bucky's footwork (especially in tight spaces) is far superior to Rachaad's.
Just like there's no question that White is better in pass pro and superior as a pass catcher.
All that being said, nearly all of Bucky's production has come out of Pony, with manufactured stuff like reverses, misdirections, etc.
To my knowledge, Rachaad hasn't received anything like it. Without those gimmicky plays, Bucky hasn't done much better than White.
Until they finally yank Mauch's sorry ass and Coen stops being predictable with his run calls; I don't think it really matters who's back there.
All fair points but Bucky is much quicker than White so that's why he gets those designed plays

No argument from me there.
I'd have to rewatch all the sacks from the last two weeks but from memory I think 4 of them could be attributed to Baker bailing too early... HOWEVER it's hard to judge that because when the line breaks down every play you get happy feet.
He lost confidence in the line. Everyone was bad, even Wirfs.
Coen in b2b has called a grand total of 2 screens (and they both worked to Godwin).
No screens to White in b2b weeks. Rarely called the quick slant.
He's running the same crap Lefty and Canales did on early downs.
But back to Baker... It's also easy to forget our line got rekt by Washington too.
So that's three straight weeks without a clean pocket.
Compare that to Bo Nix this week who looked like a HOFer because we have zero pass rush.
Football is won in the trenches. This is why I wanted JPJ. Barton has looked every part the rookie.
Our guards are trash. Goedeke is solid and our depth is hilariously bad.
And Wirfs just got a fat pay day and looks every bit the sloth.
We gotta fix the line(s).
Reserving judgement on Wirffs until I re-watch. That may take a while as this game has some stank attached to it and I’m just not feeling it.
It may be that Tristan (and a couple others) are playing dinged up…
We were walking wounded after The Football Team, ground down further after Detroit, and finally succumbed to Denver’s relentless, aggressive, defense.
Dont feel too rough about this loss. As we can bounce back by getting our defensive starters back - which if we had had them in this game it would have slowed some of their attack and given the offense more plays on the other side of the 50 from which to begin said attack.
We had no balance in this game. The defense was as bad as the offense. Special teams didn’t offer much either.
I think those that did suit up anre just tired, there isn’t a lot of depth to rest, and we just played our tails off in very physical and far more important win.
yep, it’s not a conspiracy to suppress White’s production.White - I'm not sure what to make of him because Baker missed him in the flat a few times and he had a TD that should have counted. But Bucky and the eye ball test. It's not really close. Make it 50/50 despite my FF team

White is only really good on the screen game, but Bucky looked pretty good doing it today.
Some can’t avoid being a White fanboi- can’t we just enjoy what Bucky did without perceiving a slight to their preferred back?
My favorites are the ones that can move the offense, consistently.
Sure, when you can show me a positive assessment of a play or a game by Mayfield, that you’ve made this season. No one really cares about your Baker trolling. Most have already concluded we’re better off with him, than without him…some, like you, are just tethered to another reality

Needling Baker-Haters gives me almost as much joy as pointing out their hypocrisy by introducing then to the same blind commitment they have in their favorite underperforming RB1.

I knew you’d tuck your tail between your legs and deflect. But, just for the hell of it…

Passing game was outstanding. Not only were the concepts great, but Liam called a hell of a game. Receivers were running free and open, and doing so early and often.
Baker played very well. Receiving corp played very well.
Running game was ass for the most part.
The injuries we took in the secondary is extremely concerning.
Won a game we were supposed to win.
Next week will be a real test.
100%.
Run game (including run blocking) was bad, line & secondary injuries are definitely concerning.
I'll be watching the Lions tonight - absolutely spot-on, they are going to be a real test. Would like to carry two of these TD's over to next week...
There’s a number of them this season. But, I thought I’d use one that you actually replied to.
So, your turn. Let’s see it.
kinda like when you hand the ball off to a White on the first down, and he gets absorbed at the LOS for no gain, yet everyone excuses him for the poor line play?
Weird the same doesn’t apply to the passing game?
Your analogy doesn't really apply, though. If Mayfield was hitting his back foot and immediately getting sacked, then you would have a point. That did happen a couple time today, but not all seven sacks. There were more instances of Mayfield holding onto the ball too long, not seeing open receivers, or scrambling too early than there were of the OL immediately getting beaten and the QB had no chance. More of that happened last week and Mayfield took less sacks vs. Detroit.
Mayfield simply played better last week than he did this week. He has to wear some of these sacks.
As I said in the beginning, he absolutely does. Mayfield said as much in his presser. Never said he was blameless. But you can’t give White a pass for run blocking holes, but then hold Mayfield to a higher standard.kinda like when you hand the ball off to a White on the first down, and he gets absorbed at the LOS for no gain, yet everyone excuses him for the poor line play?

A couple sacks look to have occurred after happy feet, pulling down the ball to run, only to run into a sack. That’s a lack of trust.
More than 3 sacks, in back-to-back games, would tend to make give you happy feet & make mistakes. Especially the guy that’s made a habit of getting out of the collapsing pocket to extend a play.
Pretending that this was totally on Baker Mayfield, to make a point, is disingenuous.
