An incomplete pass is better than a sack. Baker needs to learn to throw the ball away when there are no better options.
But you can’t give White a pass for run blocking holes, but then hold Mayfield to a higher standard.
As I've already said, I'm not. It's a bad analogy. Nobody is blaming Mayfield for the times he had no shot (like White), but for the times he did have opportunities to make plays (or get rid of the ball altogether) and didn't.
Pretending that this was totally on Baker Mayfield, to make a point, is disingenuous.
This is a strawman. I haven't seen one person make this argument. Damn near everyone has said the entire team played and coached like crap, and that includes the QB.
THIS. I was screaming throw the ball away at the TV and this dude would just stand there and get sacked. An incomplete pass is better than a sack. Baker needs to learn to throw the ball away when there are no better options.
kinda like when you hand the ball off to a White on the first down, and he gets absorbed at the LOS for no gain, yet everyone excuses him for the poor line play? You know what’s funny about threads like this… when Baker has all day and his first read is open it’s Baker Baker Baker Baker. When he has to go through progressions quickly and put the team on his back it’s everyone else’s fault
Weird the same doesn’t apply to the passing game?
Weird that a former GM wouldn’t realize that not being able to run block, or pass block, doesn’t give the QB enough time, either.
Baker doesn’t need much time, he showed that he improved getting the ball out by a full second over last year, and was the fastest, or one of the fastest to get rid of the football in week one…so even with that he was still sacked 7x today.
Weird that Baker made such bad decisions today - totally without any reason - and totally unlike either previous game? For the first time he wasn’t able to find a way.
Weird that Rachaad White was exactly like he’s been in every game this season and last season. Also, totally without reason - he just runs into tacklers and goes down?
Weird.
When Baker's initial read isn't open he does a couple things...
1. Runs out of a clean pocket
2. Immediately checks it down (He did this on 3rd and 17 vs a 2 man rush in Broncos territory)
3. Freezes
4. Throws it anyway. He did this a couple times yesterday.
He's a low functioning QB. That's why he was on 4 teams in however many months it was.
Mauch is seriously awful. Three weeks in a row of bad tape, he deserves to be benched. Hainsey who I think is a below average player should see some snaps.
Skule - this is the best option at RT? Dude is lost.
Mauch - not a good player. Bench him and start Hainsey.
Agree on Mauch. It's time to give Hainsey, or anybody else, a shot.
I thought Skule was better this week than last week. Because of his gawd-awful performance vs. Detroit, he's kinda the low-hanging fruit when bashing the OL. I'm not saying he was good, I'm just saying he didn't give up immediate pressure after immediate pressure like he did vs. Detroit. I'm curious as to what his PFF grade is on this game and how it compared to last week. I didn't watch him as closely, so I certainly could be wrong.

You could be right. It just looked like Vietnam for every snap. Their line was disruptive. Just chaos.
He may have been better idk.
But I am pretty disappointed with Coen in 2 straight weeks not countered the aggressive pass rush with screens and slants.
It gets Baker and the line in rhythm and it eventually opens up the deep ball.
Mauch might be one of those guys who probably plays tackle better than guard, as he did at NDSU similar to Goedeke. John franklin myers isnt a slouch either he always kinda showed up when I watched him play on the jets
I said it on the game day thread, the Bucs got dominated in the trenches. You can't win when your lines are being dominated. Re Mayfield, he does need to get the ball out much faster. He can't stand back there looking around while the pass rush comes rumbling home. This is where the play calling could have been better, Coen needed to adjust to the pressure with plays to counter it. The Bucs ALWAYS have one, two, three games they lose when on paper they should win. This game is number one. Offset by the unexpected win at Detroit. I was expecting 2-1 after week three, here we are. We need the guys who are healing to get back on the field and the Bucs will play better. And some adjustments need to be made for the less than stellar O-line play.
The Bucs don’t have a lot of depth to be benching people.
Teams that lose in the trenches and then back that up with mediocre RB and LB play … don’t go far. Especially not with injuries
unfortunately this was the kind of game a lot of NFL teams lose so let see how they bounce back against a very tough team.

That did happen a couple time today, but not all seven sacks.
Here was Queipo's breakdown:
Wirfs - 2 pressures
Bredeson - 5 pressures, 1 sack
Barton - 3 pressures, 1 sack
Mauch - 5 pressures, 2 sacks
Skule - 4 pressures
Baker - 3 pressures, 3 sacks
Other - 3 pressures, 1 sack

Yup.
Mauch is beyond bad. Left a lot to be desired last year, but has completely and totally regressed this season.
I mean, could Klein really be that much worse (or Bob H.)?
I'm a little concerned about Goedeke, I am aware that no two concussions are the same, but if he's still showing symptoms two weeks after the fact who knows how much longer he could be out. I know we've got some cap to work with, Id be curious about David Bakhtiari, or DJ Humphries. I know he's (Bakhtiari) has primarily played LT, and that both he and DJ can be injury prone, but either would be a huge upgrade over Skule. Also Otten....He's flashed on occasion, but it's glaringly obvious that he's not a game changer. This needs to be addressed in the offseason as his hands are too inconsistent, he's not a great blocker or athlete. I don't know if it's partly that he came after Gronk and we got spoiled, but TE definitely needs and upgrade or at the very least see what some of our depth guys can do given more opportunities.
Especially with injuries the Bucs are struggling on both lines, tight end, linebacker
Cant win consistently like that
