i know we are all gut punched this week. Back to the days of starting threads of "what we need to happen" to make playoffs
Week 15
Need Saints to upset the Panthers.
With a Panthers win, the Bucs MUST sweep Carolina to remain alive.
With a Panthers loss, the Bucs simply must split with the Panthers and end up with same record. So at 8-9 (both lose to Miami and Seattle in week 17), Bucs would get in
Bottom Line
These next 8 days will be telling on who takes this division.
With a Saints loss today, Carolina could have it wrapped up by next Sunday night with win over Bucs
With a Saints win today, the Bucs remain very much alive and will actually be back in the drivers seat with a win next week
I know, i know, we ain't doing shit most likely if we somehow get in...but as a fan, i still have to root for playoffs.
Let's go Saints!
Yes if the Panthers lose to the Saints then a tiebreaker goes to common opponents where the Bucs would win if they split with the Panthers.
FUN FACT: If the Bucs once again have a home playoff game with an 8-9 record it will be the first time in NFL history where fans wear bags over their heads to a playoff game!
i still have to root for playoffs.
Exactly.
Theres an article on the Panthers fansite about Canales admitting to "hate watching" the Bucs v Saints game rooting for the Saints to win. Maybe Karma will give us a break!
If not and if you subscribe to where team are in their life cycle, its hard to imagine us sweeping the Panthers with the first game in Carolina and the Panthers playing for their first playoff versus us playing to hold on to a playoff streak. The only thing going for us really in that game is the potential resurgence of our offense.
Oh please, in what world do the Bucs somehow regroup and win the division? Pie in the sky if you ask me. And if they were to somehow win the division, which ain't happening, they will get smoked at home by either the Rams or Seahawks in the WC round. What's the point? We'll all be watching from home while the elite teams compete in the playoffs.
Be careful what you wish for.
Do you really want an 8-9 Bucs team hosting the Eagles or Packers? How do you think that's going to play out? I'll tell you. Bucs fans will be outnumbered. I'd rather let the Panthers enjoy that experience.
If the Bucs back into the title at 9-8 or 8-9 having totally melted down in the second half of the season I'll say.....
NO! I don't want to watch visiting fans have a party in the stands of Raymond James!
