It would be great if the Bucs won the division for the third straight season.
But the downside is will another wild card team like Dallas come into RayJay and serve up an ass-whoopin' like they did last season? That was a sad ending to the season.
Bowles made a critical mistake Week 18 when he benched the starters vs Atlanta. They should have went into the playoffs on a 3 game winning streak.
if that is what you attribute the loss to you’re more delusional than a person who claims to be a big $ GM
:-)
we got stomped because they were the better team
They were so much the better team we beat them by 16 in the regular season.
in the first game? No film
and we ran the ball down their throat?
Just curious, why would you be against playing the starters Week 18 last year? After the disappointing regular season they needed to carry momentum into the playoffs. The juice they had after the 4th qtr vs Carolina was gone when Bowles treated that last game like pre-season.
great example of your trolling shift.
I didn’t say I was for or against. I said it was not the reason.
if you and Buggsy want to claim the Bucs were better than the Cowboys go for it
So you just started an argument for the sake of starting an argument. If you don't have an opinion then why post?
I offered two opinions
1) the didn’t lose because of Bowles decision
2) they lost because the Cowboys were better
There is no singular reason why they lost, but Bowles decision to treat Week 18 like a preseason game was definitely one of the factors.
Here is some data for you. Since 1997 when the Bucs win their last regular season game they are 5-1 in their first playoff game. When they lose their last regular season game they are 0-4. In 2007 Gruden treated the last two games like pre-season, losing the #3 seed and got stuck with the Giants instead of Washington.

So was the weather

somewhere a statistician is throwing up in his/her cheerios

The Bucs finally had a quarter where they looked like their old selves and Bowles pissed it away the next week. You can deny it all you want. If the Bucs are in the same situation again this year, have the south clinched before Week 18, they would be fools to treat it like pre-season again.

JC you’ve gone from implying that Bowles sabotaged the otherwise playoff-winning team by a poor coaching decision to now defending it against weather.
Roll-y roll troll-y troll.
The Bucs finally had a quarter where they looked like their old selves
There it is.
if you want to talk stats JC maybe start with the correlation between pretend GM/football acumen posters and the “excuse” post eg the 2022 team was a winner held back by coaches.
it seems the more one saw the 22 team as a SB contender the more one posts now that some external force did them in (Bowles, Leftwich) and that the Bucs are better than their actual results indicate (eg the Bucs were better than the Cowboys who demolished them on the playoffs)
Bucs were inconsistent all last year. Bowles should have played the starters in week 18 last year.
But Bowles lost it for the Bucs well before week 18 and the Dallas blow out
locker room was lost in week 6. Offense was terrible play calling.
brady fell off compared to his typical standards no doubt but coaching was brutal
I mean remember that browns game?
Coaching isn’t good this year either and low and behind likely looking at a game or so around .500
Cowboys beat the Bucs last year in the playoffs because Kellen Moore absolutely clowned Bowles.
Dude was playing chess, while Todd was playing checkers.
my updated outlook
WEEK 12
Bucs lose to Colts
Falcons over Saints
-Bucs should be able to beat the Colts but they are way too inconsistent as a team so the 1.5 point favored Colts take it, giving a significant blow to our playoff chances.
-Falcons do their job in beating the Saints, Falcons and Saints sit at 5-6 with Bucs at 4-7
WEEK 13
Bucs over Panthers
Lions over Saints
Jets over Falcons
-What a week for the Bucs. All 3 tied at 5-7
WEEK 14
Bucs over Falcons
Saints over Panthers
-huge road victory for Tampa Bay. Owns tiebreaker in first place at 6-7 with New Orleans. Falcons at 5-8
WEEK 15
Bucs lose to Packers
Saints over Giants
Panthers over Falcons
-Bucs follow up big win with a dud and lose to Green Bay. Saints get big win, falcons in a nose dive. Saints in first at 7-7, Bucs at 6-8
WEEK 16
Bucs lose to Jaguars
Rams over Saints
Falcons over Colts
-Bucs get the help they need from Rams but cant compete with the Jaguars. Saints at 7-8, Bucs and Falcons at 6-9
WEEK 17
Bucs over Saints
Bears over Falcons
-Bucs get huge home victory. We are kings of the mediocre south baby. Bucs in first at 7-9, owning tie breaker over 7-9 Saints
WEEK 18
Saints over Falcons
Bucs lose to Carolina
- in typical Todd Bowles led Bucs fashion, we need a road victory over the 3 win Panthers and we cant do it. Saints take division
New Orleans 8-9
Bucs 7-10
Falcons 6-11
Carolina 4-13
I disagree with you having the Falcons defeating the Saints in week 12/ The Falcons are flip flopping starters and the Saints, even with Winston will defeat the Falcons. Nor do I see the Saints losing to the Rams. The Rams are in disarray.
The preseason is over. Let the real season, the race for the NFC South, begin!

I think falcons are toast but I think saints are capable of losing any game much like Tampa. I think I’m more hoping I’m right there. Saints are 1 point favorites.
in terms of Rams. They are 4-6 and just beat the Seahawks. I’d say they’d be able to beat the mediocre saints
Updated
1. Eagles 9-1
2. Lions 8-2
3. 49ers 7-3
4. Saints 5-5
5. Cowboys 7-3
6. Seahawks 6-4
7. Vikings 6-5
------------------------
8. Packers 4-6
9. Rams 4-6
10. Falcons 4-6
11. Bucs 4-6
If you're wondering why the Bucs are the last of the 4-6 teams. You break ties in division first, so Falcons are ahead of Bucs. GB wins the 3 team tie breaker and LAR wins the two team tie breaker, Bucs last by default.
The Bucs path to the playoffs is still crystal clear: 5-0 vs Car (2x), NO, ATL and GB. Colts and Jaguars games are gravy. The only way they don't make the playoffs going 5-0 in those games.
A. Saints go 5-1 or 6-0 in their other 6 games.
OR
B. Falcons go 6-0 in their other games.
AND
Vikings go 4-2 or better in their last 6 games.
So you'll hear people say the Bucs are done at 4-7 but in reality the game doesn't mean much.
