I'm not a long term Bucs fan. I was born and raised in the VA suburbs of Washington DC, and was a lifetime Redskins fan before we moved here in 2010. The Redskins were in the playoffs most years and won three Super Bowls. Then Dan Snyder bought the team while we were still in VA and quickly ruined it. I quickly became a Bucs fan after we moved here, so I've been part of the Krewe for 13 years plus. The reason for my post is that it's very exciting to be a fan of a team which is relevant, especially come playoff time. I was so sick of watching all those other teams march through the playoffs while Bucs fans were left out in the cold.
Then Tom Brady came to town and everything changed. It's been an exciting four seasons. There have been ups and downs, but each year we have been blessed with a playoff team. It has been so gratifying to see this current Bucs team far exceed expectations by winning the division, winning a Wild Card playoff game vs the defending NFC Conference champions, and now headed to Detroit two wins away from another Super Bowl appearance. It's awesome to see and hear the national media talk about our team and their chances in the playoffs. These are exciting times regardless of all the crap that went on during the regular season. GO BUCS!
Very exciting times and even more so because the expectations were pretty low at the beginning of this season.
As you probably know the Bucs had years and years of futility (most forget we were a game away from the Super Bowl once in that period) and then Malcolm Glazer bought the team, rebranded the Bucs and hired Dungy and that started about a decade of good football.
I don’t know where we go from here, buts it’s always a good ride! Go Bucs!! Tough one ahead!
