QB is a position that I don't mind using draft picks on. It's so important that in my eyes, i'd be okay drafting a QB every year until we find one.
Damn right!!!
Then you go right back to the well and try again
So 3 QB's in 3 years?
If that's what it takes
draft Janine Garofalo..... I mean... Jimmy Garropolo
Lets put it this way, if you draft a guy 7th overall it means you aren't sold on Glennon, so Mike really doesn't factor into 2015, if you are trying to replac him in 2014 you will be doing the same in 2015.If the guy drafted at #7 can't beat out Glennon then they must be equally awful and as such you must still need a real starter so go get one.You don't decide you are moving on from Mike only to keep handing him the job year after year because you can't be bothered to keep looking or are scared to keep trying for a replacement after striking out the first time.QB is too important a position to settle for having one of the worst starters in the league simply because you failed to improve the year previous.Hopefully whoever made the decision to get a QB at #7 and decided to take a player that couldn't beat out Glennon would no longer be making the picks in 2015, it wouldn't be like a 4th rounder failing to beat out an aging great, it would be a high first rounder failing to beat out one of the worst in the league, that's an epic failure.
Grooming a rookie first round QB behind a veteran wouldn't be a new thing. If a rookie gets drafted at 7 and Glennon is named starter, it may just be more indicative of the staff wanting to develop the guy before throwing him to the wolves.

Its def not a new thing...but there arent a whole lot of rookie QB's being groomed behind a guy just one year more experienced.
Well Carr @7 is a nightmare. But QB is a position that I don't mind using draft picks on. It's so important that in my eyes, i'd be okay drafting a QB every year until we find one.
I can actually agree with that. Although, I'm sure it would be different qb's.
That is true, though I think the mindset behind sitting the rookie is more to ease them into the pro game than it is to learn from the guy ahead of them. Regardless, Glennon has been lauded for his work ethic and intelligence. There are definitely worse guys for a rookie to come in behind.

Agreed. Im not sold on Glennon being the answer or being a bust yet. I really do want to give him "14 with Tedford and then judge. He had flashes and facepalms last year...just would hate for us to cut the man loose and see him succeed elsewhere. I have some family who are Chargers fans, and Brees is a sore subject with them.
It would be interesting to see what happened if they drafted a rookie QB at 7 and then Glennon had a huge year. I don't think a team has ever been in that position and went with the veteran, though the only time I can think of a similar situation is Brees/Rivers. Without the salary implication of a high draft pick being relevant anymore, I think it's conceivable that they could stick with the veteran. I wish that Brees/Rivers scenario could play out now, with this CBA in place, to see what would happen.

It would definitely be interesting to see. I would much rather TB not be the guinea pig for that new scenario...but it would sure be a nice problem to have. That would be our luck...go from never having a QB to having too many.
...and if Glennon balls out in that rookie training year , then you no longer need that rookie and you just wasted a top 10 pick.Nah , if you make the pick you have to roll with the rook...you are making the statement that he is your guy when you pick him that high.
we could just draft 7 QBs this year and then sign 2-3 vets and let the best 3 stay. yeah, lets do it!
Bucs aren't going QB in the 1st round at #7. Barring a trade up (not going to happen), Bucs will chose to address other needs rather than reach on some tool like Carr or any of these other garbage QBs everyone is over-hyping this year.
I don't want a qb in round 1. total waste , imo. consider this , even if we had any other nfc qb outside of a.rodgers , in our division we would still have the 4th best qb. that includes Wilson and kaepernick , who both went to the nfc championship game with Wilson winning the superbowl. point being is we need to get rid of this myopic thinking that without a pro bowl qb we can't win.we must build a great TEAM around whoever we have at qb. Seattle proved that and our own team proved that in 2002. peace out!
