And if we send 2 #1's and 2 #2's for Manziel and he gets beat out by Glennon......watch the city burn....
I'd be lobbing Molotov c0cktails at Lovie's office window if that happened.
QB is a position that I don't mind using draft picks on. It's so important that in my eyes, i'd be okay drafting a QB every year until we find one.
Damn right!!!
While I agree with the sentiment, the problem is, you do need to give a guy more than one year to know what he is.
The "strength" of this QB class is really in the depth of it, not in the stars at the top IMO. I think the smart thing here is to roll with Glennon and see what we have here, and draft a developmental prospect in the second. Aside from QB, one of the things that really killed Lovie in CHI was horrific OL play, so I could see resources being put there. If we do draft someone at 7, I would much prefer to see them sit the first year anyway. I think a lot of guys are getting crushed by getting thrown in too early and being expected to keep the ball safe against NFL defenses, and they aren't ready to do that, so that makes the hesitant and kills their confidence.

No way....too many good players are going to be sitting there at the top of the 2nd. We can get a starter ,so why draft a back-up QB ??We can get our developmental QB in the middle rounds . Get someone like Aaron Murray in round 5. Let him rehab the knee and take his time learning Tedford's system.
The answer to the question is that you could draft a QB every year but in no way shape or form do you reach for a Carr or Fales with the no.7 overall pick. Carr has a 2nd round grade and Fales a 5th. So if you want Carr you draft him in the 2nd or Fales in the 5th. You don't reach. But I do acknowledge the importance of the QB position and I would not be opposed to drafting another one this year as long as they aren't reaching.

I don't think we are going to have the option of waiting past the second. We don't have a third rounder, so we're looking at waiting until the fourth. I don't think anyone with any real potential is going to be around then.
What about this nightmare scenario?McCoy, David, Revis, Jackson and Martin go out on a boat together. They all die.
That's a short term mindset. If a rookie doesn't win the job outright in their 1st training camp, let him develop and learn the position. Won't be the worst thing in the world. A lot of times too many rookies are thrown into the fire way too early. Especially recently. Mike Glennon is an example. So is Christian Ponder. Now look at Colin Kaepernick. He was allowed nearly a season and a half to learn the offense and the position before he stepped into the starting role. He's turned that into a lot of success as 49ers QB. Some guys can jump right into the fire. Some guys can't.
Then you go right back to the well and try again
So 3 QB's in 3 years?
Oh no! We may look incompetent to others! Better not draft the guy we think could be a franchise QB!

Nothing you like about Murray ?? He's a local kid who would likely have been a 2nd rounder before he tore his ACL , now he's likely a 5th . But if we aren't starting him this season anyways , we can afford to give him the extra time get 100% and learn the offense. There's other players too... Morris from Miami , etc.
Da'Quan Bowers ?@DaQuanBowers91 4hAmerican Airlines stink !
Anyone remember that nightmare?
Murray was always a 5th rounder. Decent college player. That's his ceiling.
