Do something about the damn bot posts. They constantly flood the boards with harmful viruses and nonsense gibberish.  Do something productive with your lives.

There have been multiple problems with the web site since the change over.  The search function, despite Biggs pleas, is still not fixed and that is close to a year now? Remember the boards were out of order and it took a few weeks to fix.  Lack of moderation except in extreme cases or once situations have already exploded (Java) and now this slow response to what could basically shut down the site permanently if they aren't careful all point to lack of IT funding.  I hope PR realizes, if they don't stop the spamming with virus links soon, even the search engines like Google and yahoo will blacklist them.  It really is hard enough to use the site already, and many long time posters have already left.  I would hate to see what I think is quality journalism get flushed because of cheap IT efforts.  I don't think this is on Scott or Mark or the rest of the staff.  This is squarely on ownerships shoulders.

Honestly, this is an easy fix. They can install a registration security add on that would require one of those stupid copy codes to register on the site. If you ban all the bots, place that as a feature only when you register, and just in case give a few more people clean up rights then the problems for the most part go away. You don't need to pay anybody, this is an easy fix. No IT funding required.

Seriously. This spam has gotten really bad lately. Its to the point that I find myself not wanting to come here and try to sift through it all.Seems like the existing moderators are a bit busy with real life and aren't able to keep the spam out with any degree of efficiency. So, I'd like to suggest to the powers that be that a new moderator or two be acquired from the member base.I have the time and the experience. Also the knowledge to help out... so I'd like to offer myself up to take on the job.Just sayin'.

Agreed additional moderators are needed. 3SK does what he can, but I'm sure he has an actual life with actual things to do. There is other ways to kill this spammer stuff as well with some website changes.

Damn man. Where da PR guys at? I seen multiple threads on this stuff and it's like they just have their heads in the sand or something. So frustrating yo. I like coming here but I aint about to catch a virus doing it. That's risky business man. Maybe they be busy preparing the fire Marky Mark Dominick article I been begging for and is much deserved man. Dat would go a long way for credibility here which seem to be lacking this year.

When half the threads on the board are spam, there is a serious problem.

+1Yep. Its been suggested (in another thread) that an anti-spam modification be installed and thats an excellent idea. They really work. I have a forum for my gaming clan and I had to deal with the same kind of spam until I installed an anti-spam mod. Now I don't get ANY spam at all. Its a mod that requires the new registrant to answer a question only a legit registrant would know. For example, the question here could be "Who was the head coach of the Bucs when they won the superbowl in 2002?" Answer: Jon Gruden I know the guys that operate this board are busy with their jobs and real lives which may make it difficult to get an anti-spam modification installed for a while. So, in the meantime, a new moderator or two with the spare time could really make a difference. I know I have the time to keep this place clean myself.
