First time this year we'll see a new QB with a Bucs helmet. Why do we need to elevate a 3rd QB? I think the #1 possible reason has to be that Mayfield has an injury concern of some kind.

The PR article speculates that Pratt is drawing interest from other teams, so they elevated him to keep him from being poached. He could be the backup if Trask signs elsewhere next season. Pratt will be a free agent too of course, but obviously would come cheaper than Trask.
Not mentioned is that the trade deadline is coming up, and if Trask is not going to be around next year why not trade him? But I doubt there are any teams who need a rent-a-QB with no NFL experience.
Mayfield hasn’t looked as accurate to me since being bounced off the turf a couple of weeks ago… but I really think this activation is more about how hard the injuries have ravaged the roster lately.
