Reports are saying the NFL plans on getting rid of games #1 and #4 of the preseason. I’ve always considered the preseason to be too long, but it probably could’ve been beneficial this season. We have a new QB, we’re tweaking our offense to utilize the strength of our new players. We also have a rookie class that we’re heavily needing to come out hot. They’ve already lost all rookie mini-camps, along with OTA’s. I’m curious to see how the coaching staff handles the abbreviated preseason. Do they play Brady the whole 8 quarters to try to achieve chemistry and comfort? Will they be too afraid to risk injury in meaningless games? I’m asking for your opinions. Do you think this beneficial for us, or is it going to be detrimental?
I personally like the idea of a preseason that will likely look more like real NFL games. I think starters will get the majority of the playing time. At least on Offense. The rookies will be thrown into the fire, obviously. But I think the extra two weeks of practice time will also serve the Bucs well. This is going to be a wild training camp, as I really doubt we’ll hear much about how the team looks. Should also make for a interesting preseason. Thoughts?
