According to Sportrac.com the Bucs will have in the neighborhood of 91 million in available cap space. That's good news compared to last off season. The Bad news is the Bucs have quite a few players to sign again or look for viable Free Agents to replace them.
The majority of the offseason will be shaped by what the Bucs do with 2 players. Jameis Winston and Shaq Barrett! Arians has made it publically known he want Shaq back. On the flip side he has been less forthcoming about Winston.
The Bucs could franchise Barrett and use the transition tag on Winston. That kind of move would consume between 45-50 million of the 91 million available. Not sure that is the smartest move using up over half you available cap space on 2 players. Other players need to be retained. How much do you pay Suh, JPP and possibly Nassib. Do you reward Godwin by extending his rookie deal now? All these above players will determine what the Bucs do in Free Agency.
Now for the rest of the NFC South:
ATLANTA- -2.8 MILLION.
CAROLINA- +27 MILLION
NEW ORLEANS- +4.8
Atlanta has some work to do being in a negative position currently.
Carolina has wiggle room and create more by moving on from Cam Newton
New Orleans is in a tough position. Brees is a Free Agent. If he doesn't retire then the Saints don't have enough cap space to keep him and Bridgewater. Oh what to do in Nawlins?
All in all it should be an interesting off season.
