Dude, an email? Really?
Stupid
Agreed and not defending in any way, but the emails are 2011-2016ish and when he is no longer coaching and its wasn't just Gruden it was Allen and three or four Tampa Bay area, big company executives. probably others.
Ironically, the emails supposedly come to light because of the NFL investigation of Snyder/Washington after sex harrasment/hostile work environment claims were made. In the NFL investigation several top Washington executives apparently refused to give statements. There was a second investigation when Congress got involved.
Allen fired in 2019
Gruden resigned 2021 (?)
Snyder fined $60 million in 2023
Snyder tried to stop his forced sale of the team by saying he had collected dirt on everyone so many attribute the leaks to him
The point is lots of "stupid" people
Yeah, I’d like to see every coaches emails for the previous 10 years - those coaches thought were personal - get confiscated by the league, then giving the worst of them to the media…He most likely woulda stayed in the ring of honor if not for the email about the glazers.
This right here.
Because..........
Actions have consequences. Like... Dude, an email? Really?
Stupid
I’m not defending what he said - but if the league singles out one coach, but doesn’t publish emails of ALL the head coaches in the league - doesn’t really give you a full picture.
Do ALL actions have public consequences? Or just the ones that help the league expose/get rid of an owner they thought was hiding revenue?
These are fair points but if you tell a cop "I wasn't the only one speeding" see if that gets you out of a ticket.
Gruden said some stupid shit... And I think it's fair to say we all have at one point in our lives (I think about the shit I said on Halo 20 years ago and thank God it wasn't recorded)... So I totally understand the context of time, what was acceptable, etc.
But actions still need to have consequences in life and I feel strongly about that...
Don’t agree. Having your private halo statements made public is relevant. If the chat company decided to investigate your Discord and then made them public in a trade magazine that was read by everyone in the market sector in which you worked.
Imagine the character assassination they could have done if they published, say, the back-room deal that was cut to keep Michael Jordan’s basketball gambling preferences private (I bet Pete Rose would have dug that deal).
Did that help or hurt Jordan’s HoF chances, or impact his baseball career?
We’re not talking about restoring Gruden’s HoF chances, we’re talking recognizing what he accomplished for this team.
He deserves to be in the RoH.
I too feel strongly about that.
Gruden served as a consultant for the Saints this past season, as he was familiar with former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who was making the transition to New Orleans. Yes, Gruden should be back in the Ring of Honor and also Jon Gruden took an Offense from Clyde Christianson and brought a few players in which got us the SB Lombardi trophy. The Defense was set in stone and all we needed was a real offensive mind.
