Picks don't win games. Players do.

Agreed, but if your current players in positions in front of the QB suck, then no QB will succeed, and in that case getting more picks to find the players that will help a QB is more important.

If Bridgewater is still there at 7, I'd hope the Bucs would be giving  the Cardinals a phone call to work out a trade. 1st and 2nd to move up from 20's to 7 for Bridgewater? Yes please.

If Bridgewater is there why in the world would you pass on him

Because this team is in dire need of some overhaul on the Oline, TE, DE and WR. I may not be sold on any of the QBs that folks are drooling about, but I am also not blind to recognise that no rookie is going to flourish with the garbage in front of him. If Bridgewater is there and we can get another 2nd rounder for moving down then I am all for it. That way we can get one of the top 3 TEs in this draft and draft some Oline help with our top 3 picks. I also see Glennon as being worth another year in a proper system to judge him properly. I'd rather fill out the rest of the team first and draft a QB when it is absolutely clear that Glennon is not the answer and when the team can make up for the rookie mistakes that will happen.

The thing is franchise QBs are so rare you can't choose when you're going to get one. You have to be ready at all times. Jon Gruden was coach for seven years and only had access to one legitimate franchise QB in the draft the entire time he was here. If you see one, you can't say Oh I'll just pick one next year because next year might be 5-10 years later.

Just read this thread for the first time. If Bridgewater is on the board and we pass on him, I will change my name to Java

Very true, but I just don't see a "Franchise" QB in any of the guys that people are drooling over. I do believe that a couple of them will be very good high end QBs on the right team. If anything, the last few drafts have shown that the right guy can be had outside of the 1st round for a team able to make up for inevitable mistakes a young QB makes. Houston is a great example of a team that can handle a rookie QB and his mistakes, the Jets won mostly without Geno and Cleveland has made mistake after mistake and will be the graveyard for any QB that gets drafted there. As for Gruden, his refusal to draft Rodgers is one reason he's out of the league as everyone recognised that he was a "Franchise" QB, but even if we had drafted him would he have been as good as he is now? Possibly not, as him sitting behind Farve was probably the best thing for him to develop. How quickly will the fan base turn on a "Franchise" QB if he sucks because he isn't ready? Let's see, we did it with Vinny, Dilfer, Freeman and we are now doing it with a QB who played pretty decently last year.
