Last seconds of regulation: does ref have to spot the ball BEFORE the Falcons take control of it (pre- snap)?
it looked like the Atlanta center spotted/placed the ball at it's so-called proper location and the ref then walked by, bent over, and touched the ball.
Does the ref have to be the one to spot/place the ball? Seems logical.
The referee needs to touch the ball. Not sure if he did.
That wasn't the question.
Does HE need to spot the ball?
(the Atlanta center spotted/placed the ball and the ref touched it afterwards-- like a hurried papal blessing)
He just needs to touch it. I've seen it happen many times. The center spots the ball in a hurry up and the ref just runs in to touch the ball.
Can't believe that some Bucs player didn't impeded a Falcon from getting to the line of scrimmage. Just lay on top of a Falcon offensive lineman.
It seemed like the Bucs were hurrying back to the line as fast as the Falcons. Why were the Bucs linemen, who were fifteen yards back, already at the line when the Falcons got there? Can't believe that some Bucs player didn't impeded a Falcon from getting to the line of scrimmage. Just lay on top of a Falcon offensive lineman.
