The problem with these things is that not hitting a woman is something that really stems from the concept of chivalry -- and whether before or after actual medieval chivalry, the concept was there. But the concept is a code of conduct with expectations on the behavior of both sexes. When one sex decides to ignore the code, the other can't reasonably be expected to abide by it either. There is no excuse for a man abandoning the code and beating his wife for example (not even cold dinner). OTOH, if a woman abandons her rules under the code and is abusing/physically attacking a man, she forfeits the protection offered by the code. This should be very clear, but feminism has wussified so many men they are trained to think they must simply suffer any abuse or attack by a woman because standing up for yourself is somehow wrong.
