Well it started as if maybe things would be different tonight. The Bucs received the opening kick and went down the field and scored. It was John Lynch night, the great 47 being inducted into the Ring of Honor at halftime in front of his teammates and appreciative fans.

Then it fell apart in Buccaneer fashion, the futility at home record made intact by another crushing defeat. Yes, all hope of this team recovering to challenge for the South or a Wild Card gone with the breeze.

Here's the difference between last Sunday's pathetic game and tonight's blow out. Fans are laughing now. The anger and despair has been replaced by a casual indifference mixed with humor. There's little hope and if fans are going to have any fun at all it might as well be at the expense of the game itself. I thought the players tried to play better. I think the effort was there. But this is not a very good team. In fact they'll be lucky to win five games this season and another 0-8 record at home is entirely possible.

We have to simply accept that now. Time to talk about FA and the draft this winter because this team as it is ain't going anywhere but down the tubes. I'm no longer angry or depressed about it, just resigned. It is what it is. I do apologize for the rants of this past few days. Donkey Hunter and others were right. It's not worth getting upset about but it is going to be interesting talking about possible solutions down the road.

Yes, once again the off-season is going to be more rewarding than the season itself. It's a Bucs fan's life.
