If Licht only signed Jensen in 2022 to "run it back with Brady" then why does he have a $17M cap hit in 2024?
If Licht only signed Jensen in 2022 to "run it back with Brady" then why does he have a $17M cap hit in 2024?
A couple things:
1. There was nothing to run back in 2022. 2021 was the "run it back" season after the Superbowl, with all starters returning. Multiple players left in 2022, for a variety of reasons. But none of those players were snapping Brady the ball every play, so I'm guessing Brady wasn't as concerned about Jordan Whitehead returning as he was the Center he liked.
2. I'm sure Licht would have loved to just sign Jensen for one year. But Jensen and his agent were never going to sign a one-year deal for any team, including the Buccaneers.
You can continue to belabor this point if you like, but you'll continue to be wrong.

your desire is to blame Licht so you keep posting like Brady was irrelevant. He was not only the MOST RELEVANT factor the entire time he was here he was also VERY active in recruiting players and game planning.
the point of the link is his involvement not the timing. It’s completely counter to the narrative you keep pushing. The GM who was so committed to bringing everyone back was NEVER going to tell Brady “go win another one I am bringing them all back EXCEPT your Super Bowl center”
that is nonsensical. We brought Brown here at Bradys request and WON but now we take Brady’s center?
then why does he have a $17M cap hit in 2024?
This argument is basically your 14th fallback. As I posted just a few minutes ago it’s the kind of absurd stuff you get from people who play pretend GM on here. You cannot do anything but keep putting up dumb fallback after dumb fallback because the alternative is to undercut your own weird and fragile “I used to be a GM” ego.

Me in 2022: Let Jensen go, it will be a stupid contract.
In 2024 it's the worst contract in the league. $17.3M cap hit with $16.6M dead cap for a 33 year above average center who now can't even play.

Using your logic we should have used void years to bring back everyone.
Me in 2022: Let Jensen go, it will be a stupid contract.
Tom Brady in 2022: Bring Jensen back and I'll unretire. Tom Brady has more pull around OBP than the Red Board GM.
Surprisingly enough, the team wanted Tom Brady to play QB for them in 2022, so they resigned his preferred Center.

lol he isn't going to get it.
i mean shit if we are going to go with "Captain Hindsight" views, it would have been best not to bring back Brady at all; but let's be honest we were all stoked when he un-retired that day
and further hindsight, we would have had Logan Hall on the sidelines that day in practice in which he ended Jensen's career
