The same people who thought last years offense was held back by Leftwich now think the offense is held back by Mayfield.
it you listen to Canales he called a heavy pass game against the Falcons (just like Leftwich) because penalties and other execution errors kept setting them back. Most of those errors are NOT on Mayfield.
again not defending mayfield just saying (again) the offense not that talented, particularly in the trenches.
We are a one dimensional unit due to personnel. Mayfield's job has became harder than anticipated because of that. He's not going to carry like a franchise QB can do so everything had to be perfect around him to score points. He's just a small part of the issue though because he has missed at least 4-5 touchdown passes that were over thrown inaccurate footballs. iOL is below average and we have a TE that is below average in both run and pass. I think Canales has been better than Leftwich with room to grow. The same people who thought last years offense was held back by Leftwich now think the offense is held back by Mayfield.

amen
the off-season goal of the team was to tackle their cap problem ie to pay the Brady Super Bowl debt.
the goal was NOT to correct the talent deficiencies. We have former back ups and journeyman and rookies right down the middle of our offense… and all playing a new scheme.
someone pull up the 2023 prediction thread - I can't find it.....I'm sure there were some overly optimistic bux fans posting at the season start
My pick was 8-9, but even that is looking overly optimistic at this juncture.

that only happens if they fire Bowles tomorrow
I think Canales can spark the team.
I have Bucs at 7-10 and playoff miss
with Canales, 8-9 and division title

maybe they get there, but I agree pretty optomstic at this point
I think when you look at the early threads about this season the thing most people probably underestimated was how pportly the defense would play. In fact, at least ealry on it was sort of masked by their ability to tighten down in the RZ
