With the "Lovie" fest filling the bay, a few things have left me feeling very skeptical.1. We will be a power run team that takes shots down the field" ...Seems I've heard that before, but more importantly, with recent rule changes favoring the passing game so much I would have preferred to hear comments about a focus on the passing attack. His comments about a good defense gets you 8 wins and ST gets you 2 more scared the crap out of me. The saints, patriots, and packers have proven that a dynamic passing attack can take you deep. I'm just not excited Buc Ball.2. The old gang is back together. - Trying to recreate a past experience rarely lives up to expectations. The brand of football played in Tampa in the late 90's is no longer relevant. It almost feels like a step back and not forward, and while having old coaches and old players around sounds nice it smells to me like the guy that graduated high school but then shows up at parties until he's 30. 3. Total control - A hot button topic that seems to have been beaten into the ground. ....But it is worth being wary of. Can a coach in a win now league make a sacrifice today for the betterment of tomorrow?I am in total wait and see mode. The draft and free agency will tell allot. Passing on Watkins and reaching for Mack and I'll know all I'll need to know. I by no means a pessimist, but this really feels like more of a PR move to recapture the fan base than a move to take the Bucs into the future.Hoping I'm wrong...
What old gang is back together though? I keep hearing that, but Lovie is back. What other gang is back together? Jeff Tedford was never with the Bucs. Leslie Frazier was never with the Bucs. That's not a gang being back together.
Lovie never said "shots down the field". He said "big plays in the passing game". Big plays can come off of screens and quick slants. If you check out Tedford he's a spread-em-out quick passing game with occasional shots down the field when it opens up. I don't think Lovie would have hired him if he didn't agree with his basic philosophy.

Saints, Patriots, and Packers, let's see. All 3 of those teams have had power running games, not just dominate run games. We see how those teams (and most teams) labor when they can't run the ball. The run game will always be relevant and milk clock, which you need to do many times to win tough games. Seattle and San Fran are the two best teams in the NFC that feature power run games. You may want the glamor of the passing game but no run game and we are doomed.I'm not worried or skeptical about what Lovie wants to do at all. We gave Schiano a chance, and we chance at least give Lovie a chance. I will be happy with 7or 8 wins next year, then 10 or 11 the next year.I don't need glamor wins, it's just wins for me anyway that come!
i think some of us are over thinking this new regime. Now don't get me wrong i was and am a Schiano supporter for obvious reasons but he's gone now and we should look at this on the bright side. As a Chef you would like to buy your own groceries to make a good product so why are some worried about him making final decisions and getting his own product here? i don't have a problem with that
This upcoming draft will tell us a ton.
So, basically, people are just making stuff up about what lovie said. OK, next thread
