Bummer so young.
had such a promising rookie year here.
thoughts & prayers for his friends & family.
Very tragic at such a young age.
Terrible news. Always liked Doug Martin. RIP.
Terrible news. 36 years old. Damn
Dying that young I always wonder how... Way too young.
RIP
Incredibly sad.
Sad, always liked this cat. Too young.
Are you serious?!
Damn!! :( One of my fav players while he was here. I can remember that Raiders game...I can even remember draft night, right here on PR: JDouble was so, SO happy. He had Doug rated so highly pre-draft and very few of us thought it possible, but we got both him AND Lavonte that night...
RIP, Doug...you were awesome and deserved a ring in tampa.
damn. what the heck he get himself into?
hearing he died in policy custody
yes the report is he was involved in a break-in. The police were responding to the residential break-in call when they got a second call from the residence for a person in distress. They found Martin inside and there was a struggle during the arrest and he went unresponsive.
Impossible to know but the scenario suggests a domestic break-in (he know the person/people in the residence) and probably will turn out some kind of connection to drugs.
What a terrible sad thing, either way.
Doug was breaking and entering or he was getting robbed?
Man, these guys making millions and dying penniless is so fucking sad... Financial literacy is needed. I know they can't be heavy handed with it but think about how many people make millions in a short period of time then spend it all.
I remember Chad Johnson talking about all the money he made and saving it all... Rented an apartment and drove a used car. Smart dude for how dumb he was in college.

yeah im a finance bro myself and i preach it all the time - invest baby! College does not do many individuals justice in that regard
albeit, it's really hard for me to feel sad for those that lose millions of dollars because there's basically everyone else call it 98% that dont get opportunities to make millions.
you would think the NFLPA has recommendations and learning on it but i am sure kids in their 20s just neglect those. I'm sure even their sports agents are giving them sound advice as well.
Ultimately, a man in their 20's making millions, hard not to spend money and chase pretty women. Hell, look at Bill Bellicheck; it doesn't change much as we get older lol
