Even if the cap goes up more then expected, there is a small pool of teams who would be able to realistically fit him into their current roster. Those teams would look very similar to the Bucs. I can understand the argument that if we are not going to have Darelle Revis until he retires, trading him right now makes the most sense for the franchise. It's a bad sign for how the new management/coaching team views our chances for success in 2014, but whatever. I'd rather have them look at the long term if they feel the short term is shit. You certainly don't improve you team by letting go of one of the top defenders in the NFL in the prime of his career. I would start at 2 #1 picks for any team inquiring about Darelle. If the team had a late 1 this season, that price would be higher. Where would you spend that money? Overpaying other veteran players on the free agent market? To get the "top guy" in free agency you almost always have to overpay. We will have the cap space for an Arizona type bargain binge anyway by cutting players who don't contribute well on the field.

Now that we know the cap might be $135 million this year... the idea of trading Revis is ridiculous. Teams don't trade away the best player at a position, in his prime, for no good reason. We are not in rebuilding mode, we are trying to add pieces to make a run. Revis will not be traded.

We made the trade believing he was going to put us over the top to challenge for the division, believing that Freeman was going to at least repeat what he did in 2012.It all failed, sadly it happened, but now we have to balance this roster out. Ok, so with the cap bump and cutting Champ you have like 30 and change to play with. There were a lot of starters amongst the list of "scrubs". Good luck replacing 10 starters through the draft and free agency for 15 mil or so. I thought you were trying to make the argument that they would get better trading multiple high picks and significant cap space for Revis? What did I miss?
