Listening to all the interviews, I think Licht deep down wants to unload Revis & the 16mil. We know he badly wants more picks in this years draftBucs are missing too many pieces to have an awesome veteran player at 16mil
If someone wants to give up a ton of picks, Im sure we will listen. But we are not actively shopping him. And we're not going to listen to low-ball offers.

This is such a simple minded argument. The Buccaneers are one of the few franchises in the NFL in a good position to pay a veteran non quarterback 16 mil. Even if the cap goes up more then expected, there is a small pool of teams who would be able to realistically fit him into their current roster. Those teams would look very similar to the Bucs. I can understand the argument that if we are not going to have Darelle Revis until he retires, trading him right now makes the most sense for the franchise. It's a bad sign for how the new management/coaching team views our chances for success in 2014, but whatever. I'd rather have them look at the long term if they feel the short term is shit. You certainly don't improve you team by letting go of one of the top defenders in the NFL in the prime of his career. I would start at 2 #1 picks for any team inquiring about Darelle. If the team had a late 1 this season, that price would be higher. Where would you spend that money? Overpaying other veteran players on the free agent market? To get the "top guy" in free agency you almost always have to overpay. We will have the cap space for an Arizona type bargain binge anyway by cutting players who don't contribute well on the field.

Colts, Eagles, Packers, Bengals and Broncos can fit Revis in their cap.

Roll it all over until we're ready to really compete. To get past the spending rule just restructure contracts.
Now that we know the cap might be $135 million this year... the idea of trading Revis is ridiculous. Teams don't trade away the best player at a position, in his prime, for no good reason. We are not in rebuilding mode, we are trying to add pieces to make a run. Revis will not be traded.

We made the trade believing he was going to put us over the top to challenge for the division, believing that Freeman was going to at least repeat what he did in 2012.It all failed, sadly it happened, but now we have to balance this roster out. To me Licht dreams about having a full slew of picks, he wants to build it HIS way. He is stuck with parts that don't fit his philosophy... Revis, 2 strong safeties, horrible depth at CB, WRNo DE worth a damn, overpaid trash like Penn, Joseph, and Zuttah that will never learn how to play as a unit. Nicks was just bad luck.He wouldn't have a signed Revis for this defense. He'd spend it on blue chip starters and depth, while keeping his picks at all cost. This team is paying for Dom/Schiano's forceful moves to save their jobs. It's as simple as that.

The Broncos most certainly do not without significant cuts. Maybe with the cap moving up, but they are like 16 mil free of the cap under the projected model. You still need money to sign rookies. Oh and they have DRC, Zane Beadles, Knoshon, Robert Ayers, Dan Koppen, Winston Justice, Eric Decker, Michael Huff, Stewart Bradley, Shawn Phillips, and Quentin Jammer currently not under contract. With Von Miller, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, and Rahim Moore all going into the last season of their rookie deals. Broncos look like they are in cap hell to me. The Pack are showing 32 mil right now, but do not have Raji, Pickett, Finely, Jones, Kuhn, Shields, and Jolly (with many other lesser names) under contract for 2014. Some of those guys are going to walk for sure, but will need to be replaced with other bodies. Jordy going into the last year of his bargain basement resigning. I'm guessing he's going to get a significant bump (though maybe not till after 2014). The Colts could be a player. 37 mil with: Antoine Bethea, Adam Vinatieri, Pat McAfee, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Vontae Davis, Donald Brown, Ahmad Bradshaw, Mike McGlynn, Jeff Linkenbach, Cassius Vaughn, Fili Moala, Aubrayo Franklin, Patrick Angerer, Lawrence Sidbury, Ricardo Mathews, Kavell Conner unsigned from last season's roster. Since they are one of those teams playing with a qb on a rookie deal for a couple more seasons they could make the move if they wanted (imo). The Eagles are talking about letting one of their FA receivers go already. They show almost 24 under with: Michael Vick, Jeremy Maclin, Nate Allen, Colt Anderson, Donnie Jones, Kurt Coleman, Clifton Geathers, and Riley Cooper unsigned. I think they have other FA priorities already identified?Bengals also look like they would be a tight fit for Darelle. 27 mil with an unsigned list of: Michael Johnson, Anthony Collins, Taylor Mays, Brandon Tate, Chris Crocker, Alex Smith, Michael Boley, Mike Pollak, Dennis Roland, Zoltan Mesko, Brandon Ghee. I know the cap is going up from what these figures are based on, but can you keep what you want on that list (or replace it) for 9-10 mil against the 14 cap? Plus the Bengals have AJ, Rey, and Peko going into the final season of their deals (plus Andy idk if they extend him or not though?). Did you just look at cap space and not who these teams still had to resign (or extend)?

I'd do it for the Browns' 1st and 2nd round pick. Sorry....but I would.

That would definitely be tempting. Unfortunately this isn't Madden.

This is 90% drivel that has nothing to do with Darelle Revis, his value as a player, our current cap situation, or how he fits into it going forward. Seriously, your main argument here seems to be that Dom and Schiano suck so everything they did must suck and should be purged? The only argument I can see you making against Revis is he isn't a cover 2 corner? Think our HC has already shot that stupid discussion point in the ass. Or our new GM would trade anything he could of value to put his own stamp on the roster?

Broncos save $10M of cap space by releasing Bailey. And most of the guys you are naming as "have to re-sign" for these teams are scrubs. You get better by drafting. Not missing picks and spending balls to the wall.
I'd do it for the Browns' 1st and 2nd round pick. Sorry....but I would.
I'm half hoping it doesn't happen... but then , there's this ^^^
Dude, you're killing the thread.
Eh, I like not having to baptize Banks by fire. Revis shutting down an entire half of the field next year will be fun
You realize that expression was from an age when you only saw tow or maybe three receivers out on anything resembling a regular basis? And that now you see four or five guys out regularly? The Revis trade was a disaster.

Ok, so with the cap bump and cutting Champ you have like 30 and change to play with. There were a lot of starters amongst the list of "scrubs". Good luck replacing 10 starters through the draft and free agency for 15 mil or so. I thought you were trying to make the argument that they would get better trading multiple high picks and significant cap space for Revis? What did I miss?
