I'll admit that SF's structure is broader, and probably a smarter way to go overall, but we could fit an $18 million QB into our structure about as easily as SF. I just don't see the urgency with the Bucs and the cap. They've got lots of flexibility and some of the structural issues JC complains about here can be rectified pretty easily. Plus, some of the SF salary cap numbers are a function of timing - think Aldon Smith is going to be cheap to resign?

http://tampa.cbslocal.com/2014/03/04/bucs-can-save-big-money-on-revis-by-keeping-revis-tampa-bay-buccaneers-lovie-smith/ I guess it hasn't really sunk in, yet.  The unilateral ability to restructure the contract makes the trade opportunity very attractive to other teams... as well as the Bucs.

Difference is 49ers have probably the best roster excluding QB in the leage. Bucs obviously don't. And 49ers have Smith at $4.6M this year, and $11.5M under the tag in 2015. They might be able to lock him at $8M a year right now.

JC, whats the minimum amount you would take for a Revis trade?

Yes we could lower his cap hit this year, but that has 2 huge drawbacks-1- He is not going to take less money.  If we restructure to lower his cap hit this year it will raise it in other years.  16M is steep for a CB (even a great one) but 19M is worse.2- Doing this would guarantee atleast a portion of his contract.  The best part of his contract is the lack of guarantees.

Again... I'm looking at why other teams would be calling.  If they have a roster that is getting older, they're more apt to do those things. All I want to know is, what do they offer... and don't bring cheese.

Indy is out because they don't have a #1 in this draftFrom New England I want their #1, #4 and Kyle ArringtonDenver- #1, #3, 2015 #3. From Dallas I would be willing to give Revis a $30M roster bonus to chop his 2014 and 2015 base salaries to vet minimum but I want their #1, #2, 2015 #1, #3

LOL, I'm so glad you dont run this team. However, I'd be ecstatic if you were in charge of any of the other NFCS rosters.

JC, you realize the Bucs gave up 1st and 3rd for a rehabbing Revis and all you want in return for a 100% healthy Revis is an additional 3rd? A wise man once said, "Are you outta your **CENSORED**ing skull!" If I'm trading Revis I'm not taking anything less than a Herschel Walker/Rasta Williams type trade or you can walk on home boy.

1. We made a horrdendous trade2. I'm factoring in that if we trade Revis the orginal deal to the Jets is our #1 and #4.

Actually, your and my thinking isnt that far off (for once).  Although I would keep Indy on the list with a combo of current and future picks, and would want Denver's #2 in 2015, and New England's 3rd this year.

Heard similar things the last few off-seasons when I said we were the new Redskins/Raiders with how the organization was being run.
