In the open market, the Browns would be one of the few teams that would have a shot at Revis. If you think he's signing somewhere cheap because that team had a better record in 2013, you don't know Darrelle very well. I don't feel there is a thing wrong with wanting to be compensated as highly as possible for one's services. I subscribe to the same philosophy in my own life. Would put in my notice with the company I work for tomorrow if I found another company with the same benefits and long term stability that offered me 5% more in wages.
Didn't Shields just sign with Green Bay for 10M per year? If Sam is worth 10M, wouldn't healthy Revis be worth more? Say 2M more? If so, is the current contract that much out of reach especially with the cap expected to increase 12M next year and 15M the year after?I still don't see the need to trade OR release Revis, but his contract shouldn't be that big of an obstacle - not for getting a healthy Revis.JMO.
Agreed
You don't need $45 million to sign Revis on the open market - the idea that only Browns have a chance at him as a FA is just wrong. But, they are one of a few teams that could swallow his current contract.

5% wouldn't get me to blink. The loss of vacation time alone would make 5% a worse deal. I'd need 10% minimum to even consider it and even then I doubt I'd do it. I did get an offer for 45% more and took that 6 years ago. I could see a 20-30% offer in the future (currently looking) as well. Don't set your goals so low! We all know Revis wouldn't do that.
Lol - JBF says keep him... http://www.joebucsfan.com/?p=108760#more-108760 Now it really is going to happen.
Lol, JBF. I haven't been on that crap site in years.
The Bucs are thinking about trading Revis?
I hadn't heard. I think someone needs to start a thread on it!

and that is the point (in bold) because Revis' best chance to make the most money is to a) either stay with the Bucs on his current contract only or b) force his release by not agreeing to renegotiate with anyone. If they release him, he will have several good options for a market rate contract so why would he give that to the Bucs or the Browns
funny thing is i'd be fine with trading him at this point. just absolutely furious if they released him though.
I saw this on PFT:
Revis’ agent: “Darrelle – I have good news and bad news to share…”Revis – “What’s the good news?”Agent: “You were traded!”Revis – “That’s GREAT news! I need to join a team who will compete for a ring! And what’s the bad news…?”
The Vikings over Browns.
I could see the Vikings making the trade.
He would if they started at $16m this year, maybe add a signing bonus...then guaranteed a bit more, but decreasing in Salary throughout the term.
If they can get picks for Revis and pick up Verner along with Mack I am a happy fan.

Yeah that's an actual upgrade
