Eat the $1.5M and 3rd and wait it out. Cleveland is the team. They're going to get desperate closer to the draft.
I actually agree with this. Let's not kid ourselves, plenty of teams want Revis. They think our hands are tied, and we have to cut him. Show them you won't give him away. We'll get something then. I guarantee it.
I could see the Bucs paying a big chunk of the $80M remaining on the contract, if the trade compensation was right.
What the teams 1st rounder in 2014, 2015, and 2016? You think the Buc's want to just 'buy' draft picks?
The Patriots think they can wait this out and scoop him up. F that. Let them come get him.

Sorry guys but that strategy makes zero sense. It's a fail on many levels. First, you are discounting the importance of us having the 69th pick instead of the 110th pick. That is likely the difference between a legit starter and a back up. Second, we have a buttload of guys coming in to visit today and we can't sign them if we don't cut Revis. We need that $16M of cap space right now. And finally, waiting accomplishes nothing. Everyone still knows we will have to eventually cut him. If they are willing to wait until after four today, they will be willing to wait longer. Putting it off gains no advantage for us. Nobody wants that contract. It's that simple. We have to move on with our team. What really sucks is it looks like he will end up going back to the Jets.....so we basically gave them our 1st and 4th for nothing. Can't dwell on it though. Gotta focus on our guys and the our future. Hopefully a last minute surprise trade happens and we get something....but if not, we still have to cut him.

And just hold Revis, come training camp time, teams will have even less to give him as a FA. Make it clear to Revis, restructure now, or get released after everyone with money doesn't need him, and those that might have no cap space left. If he is all about the money, that is how to deal with him.

If they want to buy his contract they would only need to pay this year. Don't think they're going to do that. The only negative holding onto him until the draft is we carry the cap hit until then.**Not a cap expert.

Who's coming in and who have they been talking to. I know who we got but I haven't been following as closely... Busy.I'm good with the Revis decision whatever that may be.
So we should just skip the O-line upgrades and everyone else then? Lets not get better as a team because we are dragging out a game of chicken that we will always lose? Sure. That would be brilliant.

Exactly. With the exception of a vet QB, any new FA signing can fit the cap with a corresponding cut.

Who said anything about that? Calm dowm brother, no need to go to extreme because someone does not agree with you. The Bucs still have cap space to sign the Oline and others as well. For example, if they sign the LT from Cincy, then Penn and his contract is gone. Nothing added to the cap and maybe even a savings. The Bucs sign a new punter, and Mr. K and his $3 mil cap number is gone. More cap savings. There are lots of moves available and still lots of cap space left. The Bucs are not desperate to get that $16 back this moment and probably could even take Revis into the season and still get the FA players we hope for. The only rush to deal Revis now is the draft pick, not the cap hit.
Penn is the guy you wanna hold onto and get a draft pick for. You wanna cut him immediately when we sign Collins so we can hold onto Revis? We don't gain anything by holding onto Revis, but we most certainly stand to lose out. Sorry man. Doesn't add up.
