Cut Revis. Move on.
Penn is the guy you wanna hold onto and get a draft pick for. You wanna cut him immediately when we sign Collins so we can hold onto Revis? We don't gain anything by holding onto Revis, but we most certainly stand to lose out. Sorry man. Doesn't add up.
Do you really think Penn has trade value that Revis doesn't?
Second, we have a buttload of guys coming in to visit today and we can't sign them if we don't cut Revis. We need that $16M of cap space right now.
I don't think teams have to be under the cap until later in the year. Rosters inflate to 90 guys in the off-season.
That's actually a good question. Anyone know the salary cap rules and how teams can be over roster limits and how that relates to the hard salary cap?

Okay, that makes no sense.

Salary cap is always in place... only the top 51 salaries count against the cap.
Have to be under cap by start of league year with your 51 highest paid players.

Do you see any offers for Revis and his $16M contract? If he has an y trade value we will get an offer before 4 today. If we don't get an offer than I think it is pretty clear that he doesn't have any trade value with his current contract. Not sure how that is debatable. Not sure how holding onto him for another week or month will change that. Penn is a solid top 15 LT and only costs $7.5M. All you have to do is look around the league at the scrub OTs being signed to big deals to know that there is a market for Penn. Especially now that there are no more FA options, or at least there won't be once we sign Collins.

What's the hurry? At the start of this thread... it was unthinkable that Revis wouldn't be a Buc. Licht called him an asset for a reason.
Yeah I'm really okay not spending money on the Bengals' backup tackle and Josh effing McCown. We've filled holes. Unless you can get Peppers for pennies, time to move onto the draft.
The Jets lost Austin Howard to the Raiders last night. Raiders gave Howard a 5 year $30M deal....Now the Jets are scrambling to over pay a scrub like Breno Giacomini. I bet they would gladly give us back our 4th round pick for Penn right now.
I'm not worried about it because I know Lovie and Licth obviously get it and won't keep him past four o'clock. No point in arguing about it. All I know is when the draft gets here and we have a pick at 69 instead of 110.....everyone will be happy at that moment in time.
It's La Canfora - but relevant...2 sixth rounders? http://nfl.si.com/2014/03/12/darrelle-revis-new-england-patriots/
NFL Network ?@nflnetwork 1mPer @RapSheet: "Hearing it's unlikely" that Darrelle Revis will be traded at this point. #NFLFreeAgency

Better than nothing.
