I'll take anything at this point. If he's going to get cut, whether you agree with it or not, get whatever you can. Really sad though about the sunk cost.
Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 7mWho has called the #Bucs about Darrelle Revis? Who hasn’t? Some of them: #Patriots, #Falcons, #Eagles, #Giants. But would any trade for him?
I have a hard time thinking the Falcons made that call inside the division.
what if they offered the only offer or the best one?
if the trade talks are real and some of the offers are a 3rd rounder or better, the Bucs should be willing to wait a few days if needed and give the 3rd to the Jets. I know the 3 mil comes into play as well... it really depends what types of draft picks/players are being discussed... if there's any real interest. Personally, I wouldn't cut Revis... I'd ride out another year with him and potentially increase his trade value (or trade him if the current offer was good enough), but I understand the logic on an outright cut. We could get some cap space with Koenen and potentially M. Williams. Penn and Zuttah are also in play... especially if we draft Matthews/Robinson in R1. Nothing against the player, but I wish we could trade away Goldson's contract.Regardless of what happens, I am happy to see that this FO is getting deals done at reasonable prices. I've been frustrated with the premium we've paid for many players in the Dom era.
#IBN #NFLFreeAgency "Rumors Report"Browns close to getting another piece.. New team in on Revis.. Jared Allen buzz @ http://t.co/gdoKKKf49e

Then trade him. If Revis is eating up 16m of their roster, that team will not stay together long. Odds are the Bucs could be a decent team this year but I doubt giving Revis to Atlanta for one year would be the reason the Bucs don't win the SB next year. Revis is a timebomb, I'd love to drop it on Atlanta's roster.
If the worst case scenario is keeping Revis and his $16M salary... is that bad? The jets get a 3rd instead of a 4th. The Bucs keep an elite player.

They've done a pretty decent job so far... and they can still do 1 for 1 upgrades.

Mike Williams being cut would hurt our cap, not help it.
I mean, why this 4pm deadline? Pay him the $1.5 million roster bonus, deal with giving up a 3rd instead of a 4th, and still try to trade him.Without this deadline, we still would fetch likely AT LEAST a 3rd round pick for Revis, if not a 2nd, and quite possibly a 1st. The only thing holding teams back is this belief he's getting released anyways. Take that belief away and we're in a better bargaining position.Meanwhile - if somehow we did change our minds in the next 3 hours and decided to keep Revis for the long hall - then Id say those "fewer" upgrades youre talking about still equate to us currently having one of the best defenses, on paper, in the league. Two pro bowl corners. Two pro bowl caliber safeties. Two pro bowlers on the Dline and then lavonte at LB.

It's not a massive hit.The only part of his deal that is left that would hit the cap is $1.2million.Mike is so cheap this year that it really isn't worth dumping him though, better to keep him around and then dump him next year OR if we can trade him the cap hit is zero.

This year. Remember, if Revis plays this year, then the the same scenerio happens next year minus the 4th to 3rd draft pick. He could be traded next year.

No way. We either keep him, trade him or cut him before 4pm. I wouldn't waste that 3rd rounder just because we think we can trade him later on.

and its a one year rental of an "unhappy" Revis.
As has been said the problem with keeping Revis at this point is that we are done in free agency if we do. We have enough left to sign our draft picks and that's it. We may get lucky and be able to bring in Collins for basicly Penn's contract, but we would have to immediately release Penn instead of being able to trade him. We would be done. No more oline, no recievers, no LB depth- nothing until the draft.
