Shefter just said that Revis will still be the highest paid CB in the NFL but it won't be near that $16 mill mark.

Well then what happened? Would've been better off with anything then nothing..though I guess having our 3rd instead of 4th is cool.

Overplayed their hand and were left holding the bag

I don't agree with that at all. Problem was the dollars. The overplayment occurred in April.

Saying they planned to release him... yeah, overplayed.

That info came from Revis reportedly and I'm not sure how that would have affected things.

Didn't see that report... but that would be tampering, right?
@PewterReport: Jason Licht told me @Revis24 would have stayed if he would have restructured his salary to a certin number, but wouldn't reveal that number.Really curious what the number was
at best should be around $12-13M... you don't cut the top CB for only one or two million (and zero dead money).

Yea and teams wouldnt have been suspicious with the Bucs signing Verner and the deadline today to pay the bonus and save the 3rd round pick....Nobody would have ever seen this coming ::)

Why would it be tampering? Revis agent calls a media contact and tells them the story. Stroud mentioned it a couple of times during the morning show.

I was going to post something regarding common sense but decided against it. Looking for a goat...look at the guy who's been fired.

I'm stilll waiting for someone to show me a contract structure, for even say a $12 mil / yr deal that would have made Reviseither cutable or tradeable in year two of the deal with no harm to our cap. Unless Revis was willing to take $12 mil / yr unguaranteed, I say it it can't be done. No big money deal is done with the intention of parting with said player after one year. Dom should be applauded for making it painless to our cap for cutting him after one year.I also really don't fathom the vitriol aimed at Revis. He got traded to a team not of his choosing, and when said team wantedto trade him again to a team not of his choosing, he should want to go along and take a pay cut to boot. You would'nt do that to your own career.

Seriously? When did Verner sign...and when did all the teams that wanted Verner figure out he was going to the Bucs?

Dom should be vilified for making the deal in the first place. Who cares about the cap? He gave up two picks and overpaid the guy. Congrats to Dom. He took it both ways.
