What do you know. $12M.....exactly what the market dictates his worth to actually be! Amazing!Revis was charging us a $4M fee for him to settle for Tampa. Fuc him.
He was charging us more then that. He will lose almost $1 million from Massachusetts state tax so his contract is really about $11 million a year with the Pat's.

Or the Patriots got a slightly discounted rate because they are a quality organization. He'll chase the ring, and then try to score again next offseason if he gets it. I bet on a 1 year he could have gotten more. Probably the 16 we should have paid him. Lol @ donkeys. Aside from us they are the biggest losers in this. NE punked them good.
The one problem with that line of thinking is MEvis doesn't give discounts, it's all about him and the money, not team success and that is proven in he's history. The guy was a pain in the butt from being drafted right through today.2007 - Missed 21 days of training camp as a rookie because the numbers for the spot he was drafted simply weren't enough for his ego.2010 - Missed all of the offseason including preseason holding out for more money when he had 3 years left on his deal, he then got hurt because he wasn't in football shape. BTW the Jets were in the AFC Championship game the season previous.2012 - Was hinting at a holdout because the 2 year old deal now wasn't good enough, keep in mind he should have still been playing under his original rookie deal at this point. He missed most of that season for various injuries.2013 - Wouldn't work with the Jets to create cap room despite missing the bulk of 2012, gets traded to us and settles for $16million a season (Christ knows how high his opening value was if that was what he settled for)2014 - Refused to rework the deal in any way (other than upwards I would assume). The guy simply doesn't care about the team, the fans or anyone but himself. The reason he didn't get more than a 1 year deal when hitting FA, because there's no point in doing more than a 1 year deal because chances are he's gonna throw a tantrum after year 1 wanting more.
I'm stilll waiting for someone to show me a contract structure, for even say a $12 mil / yr deal that would have made Reviseither cutable or tradeable in year two of the deal with no harm to our cap. Unless Revis was willing to take $12 mil / yr unguaranteed, I say it it can't be done. No big money deal is done with the intention of parting with said player after one year. Dom should be applauded for making it painless to our cap for cutting him after one year.
Dom should be vilified for making the deal in the first place. Who cares about the cap? He gave up two picks and overpaid the guy. Congrats to Dom. He took it both ways.
Dom gave up what he did mainly because the GM of the Jets held out for the best possible offer, even paying Revis $3 mln in bonus money (it had been speculated he would be released before those bonus payments). The Jets paid them however, and held out until they got the offer they wanted. Because they knew there was value there. The Bucs could've done the same exact thing - paid $1.5 million yes, but then held out until we got the offer we felt we deserved. Revis' number didn't need to be cleared off the cap to make room for MONTHS yet we made this deadline to preserve a 3rd rounder and $1.5 million. When we likely could've had at least a 2nd rounder and 4th rounder had we played the hand different. It was a failure by Dom in the first place, but Licht didn't show much either. NE signed him for only 4 mln less per year and you're saying that waiting couldn't hold out a bit longer and at least get some type of compensation? Cmon now. Just dumb.
Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 41mIn the end, Revis’ Pats deal turns out to be a two-year deal worth $32M with a team option for $20M in 2015… which means no franchise tag================So, he essentially got a $16M / yr without a guarantee?

Exactly - basically same thing he had here. Lower cap hit on NE this year, but higher next year, which is almost identical to what we could've done with the bonus payout now. Not saying we should've kept him, but the fact we couldn't trade that is embarrassing.

They will never option him for that...again, I take this bet as well. Someone take my money!!!
Tampering anyone?
lol at the second year for $20M... can someone believe a patriots wil make $16 million when they pay $12 million per year for Tom Brady?it's a one-year $12M deal, end of story... the second year is bullshit, just Mevis ego!

It's nothing like what he had here. Here he was making $16 million every single year of the contract, with the Pats he's making $12 million before they cut him next year to avoid the $20 million hit for 2015.So basically he's making 4 million less or taken a 25% paycut, yeah it's the same thing.
Revis is being smart again.Prevents the franchise tag next year, hits the market at a perfect time, and it is reportedly a much lower cap hit (6.5 milion) for the Pats because of the 2nd year team option.

and the Pats got that deal for no picks, we did not. we gave up picks with are only out being to cut the guy if things did not work out. Not sure how anyone can defend Dom on this one. The guy's job was to consider these types of things. Revis' agent CRUSHED Dom
Hrmm, whats the over and under that Revis threads will last longer than the Gruden threads did after he left?
A parting gift.... https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/13/revis-island-is-back/
It will be a happy day when I log onto these boards and no longer see Revis' name in the subject line of any threads.

When you look at it the Bucs/Dom were the only ones to really lose in that entire series of events.Jets - gained a 1st & 4th round pick for guy that had worn out his welcome, was injured and nobody but Dom was willing to trade for.The Pats - now have upgraded their CB situation with a healthy Revis and done it without losing picks and managed to lower his cap hit by 25%.Bucs - Gave up 1st & 4th rounder & spent $16 million on a 1 year rental of a rehabbing player and the team went 4-12.What an awesome move, anyone looking to hire Dummynik in the future only needs to look at this deal to realize what a mistake it would be.I'm so thankful that Licht seems to be the anti-Dom
