Lovie had a top 10 defense in Chicago for the past decade without a $16M HoF CB. The Jets replaced Revis with a rookie this year and still had the 11th ranked defense. Revis simply isn't that important. I would bet my left nut, that if we signed Tillman, replace Revis with Shields or Verner, and used the extra cap space to upgrade our pass rush....our defense would be every bit as good, maybe better.

And how exactly are we just replacing Revis so easily?  That's the part I am missing from the "Trade/Cut Revis" camp

Verner? Tillman? Shields? One or two of the other 15 FA CBs?A top CB prospect like Dannard or Gilbert in the draft? Considering we would be getting a high pick in a trade, this seems very plausible. There are several options.

Yes, but what are you going to do with Revis?  Obviously not cut him, so who are you going to trade him to?  And what do you think you will realistically get in return?

This thread is about the OP. The OP suggests several scenarios. Maybe you should read it. :D

Maybe if Revis fixed up his hairline he would be cute enough.

But why would QB needy teams give up that much for a CB? We made the trade because we thought we had a QB. That turned into a disaster. Just doesn't make sense for those teams to do it. We did it because we thought we were a cornerback away from being almost there. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe they trade for Schaub and concentrate on defense?

If you're the Jaguars would you rather have Bortles/Manziel or Revis? I don't know I think that would be too much to give up.

Yep I am glad we have him. No reason to give him up.

Oh yea because the Bucs for sure were going to get a future HOFer in the prime of his career with their pick. Sure.

How many games did he win for us?

Yup. Corners win games on their own, sure. Yea there weren't other reasons for why the Bucs lost. If they had Millner over Revis they would be in the playoffs. I really think there needs to be some form of test for individuals to post on this forum. You sir, are full of **CENSORED**.

Momma Revis?  Is that you?  Chunky Soup?

Every player is available for the right price.  We'd be fools to not atleast listen to offers.  Revis is a great player and we have no need to get rid of him, but if someone offers us the farm I'll wave as he leaves.

He erases half of the field.

"According to Football Outsiders, which tracks the ways teams use their personnel, the use of the 11 personnel grouping — the number indicating one running back and one tight end — has surged over the past decade and continued to increase, from 48percent of the plays in 2010 to 51 percent in 2012. The grouping, which features three wide receivers, was used more than the next three most-popular personnel groups combined."You are a freaking TROLL!!!!  A Revis troll.  Half the field.  1985 called and they want their half of the field back.  He might take away 1/3 of the field.  Probably less.  That article is from last year so I'm sure the numbers have even increased MORE.  Take that test d bag.

You are a freaking idiot dude. Half the field means erases a receiver to that side. Why was it that just two years ago, Revis was all that, and now in Tampa he's irrelevant according to you jack asses?

He is very good at what he does. The problem is as other pointed out can't do enough by himself.  There are so many receivers on the field erasing one of them isn't that useful.  At $16m he will become a boat anchor on that entire unit. Maybe not this year but in the near future.

He certainly didn't look like Revis Island in the final game verse the Saints. I hope he agrees to restructure to a reasonable amount AND comes back better than he was this year. He was very good, but he was not anywhere near $16M/yr good.

Who said he was irrelevant?  I never even said he wasn't a great player.  He just doesn't justify his salary.  Sorry that is lost on you mrs.  revis.  Hell, I'm even a Revis fan but NO corner is worth that cash in relation to the cap.  Sorry dude but that math don't jive.PS Just out of morbid curiosity...how is the field divided in three, four or five wide sets?  Is that still halves?  Who's the idiot?

It wasn't right of me to call you an idiot, that was dumb, I apologize. I understand what you and others are saying but I just feel like you guys under appreciate the versatility he can bring to your defense. He is arguably the only corner in the league who can go against any receiver on the field and virtually erase him from the stat sheet. It allows you to do so many things in terms of rolling coverages and bringing certain pressures. His salary is large but it's not like it comes closing to hurting Tampa from signing anyone to make them a playoff contender. That's the price of having a future HOFer in their prime.
