1) You have to be seriously concerned about Winston

I'll first say that Winston is still young and only 2 games into the season. He has years to develop and could make big strides this season.

But based on what we're seeing, it's very, very concerning. Winston might end up as Jay Cutler 2.0

Those 3 picks were all Winston's fault and two of them were boneheaded decisions (throw to Evans in triple coverage and 2nd Jackson INT). But even worse was the sidearm that got ~2 yards - it was almost a pick 6 and was a stupid, stupid throw.

On top of this, Winston is still struggling with accuracy in the long passing game. Everyone saw that. It seems he's still too reliant on the play action game to get going. He also drifted into at least one sack I saw.

It's hard to assemble more talent than the Bucs have on offense. It's on him to improve.

2) Playcalling wasn't great

First, the Bucs don't seem to be able to get a short passing game going. I think part of the issue is Winston's short accuracy issue.s But it seems the Bucs are only effective in the intermediate game.

Second, 7 total rushing attempts? No clue why Barber was playing and why Sims is allowed to touch the ball. Also obvious what was going to happen when Sims split out wide.

3) Marpet?

What was with those snaps?

On the OL, it is at the bottom of the league in both QB hits and sacks (even adjusted for only 2 games).

4) Defensive line was bad

This was the worst case scenario for the Bucs but not unexpected. Ayers has never been able to stay healthy and has one good season before the Bucs. Spence had an injury last year and is unproven. Gholston is a run stuffer. Combined with injuries it's hard to see how the DL gets consistent pressure over the season. With McCoy (and Baker/McDonald) the Bucs will be stout in the interior, but it doesn't matter how good your interior rush is if you don't have any outside pass rush.

The Bucs have 1 sack in two games.

5) And the safeties...

Hargreaves and Smith got lots of shit (justifiably). But the safety play did them few favors. I really like Ward, but his style isn't where the Bucs are weakest. It's the center field.

6) And the cornerbacks...

Again, they weren't helped by the safeties. And you could see them start playing more and more off as they got scared.

Smith looked good pressing. The one thing though is you're not going to change the rest of the defense to fit Smith. You have one CB who's good off and one who isn't.

Watching it again, I think Smith needed to play more C2/C4 and get help to the corners. Let Cook beat them. Obviously both corners were getting beat like a steel drum and there wasn't a real solution. You could play more aggressive with the CBs, but then you're even more susceptible to the big play. Only answer was to pull the safeties back (which is also what Minnesota would've wanted at that point - they're best when running a quick passing game).

7) Injuries

Is it bad luck or a holdover from the soft training camp? For a team without injuries heading into Week 1, they've had serious injuries to their starting CB, MLB, WLB, DT, NT, and DE. At least the offense is healthy.
