I'd take him as HC.  I'm not a fan of the defensive HC thing but we could do worse.  ANd I'd really enjoy all the rage here when it was announced.

players love him. he has taken one of the worst rosters in the league to 7 wins so far this year with Geno Smith at qb. He also made the afc championship game with mark sanchez as his qb.He has a history of winning with shitty quarterbacks. Best resume any coach could have for our roster

This.Rex is a very good coach. As long as he would run the 4-3, I would love to have him in Tampa.

There's no way I'd want this guy as hc. You say he is a players coach, wins with garbage qb's, etc. Have you forgotten the last 3 years of 0 playoff appearances and a circus he helped create and perpetuate a couple years back? I don't want him here as HC nor do I want him as DC. I have this fear he be just like his dad when he torpedoed the Oilers in 93. If a strong hc was not brought in to keep him under control there is no way now he'd be just a good DC who did his job and kept his mouth shut.

No, I didn't forget about back to back championship games. That also means a team passed them in getting better the following year also. But the last one was the AFC title game 3 seasons ago. NY media blowing things up or no, I don't think it's a good idea.

Rex is a good head coach.  Yeah, he is blustery and has all that nonsense off the football field, but when it comes to actually coaching the team, he's fantastic.  Hell, he made it to back-to-back AFC championship games with Mark F'n Sanchez as his QB.  I'd love him as the head coach here, but I think he'll end up taking a year off before someone hires him as a HC again.

I thought it was bush league.  And, if his reason was to motivate his guys, it failed.  They looked terrible the first half of the game.

They won and didn't give up a sack or turnover against one of the better defenses in the league.  Dunno if it was because of the speech or what, but it might have been their best offensive performance of the season.

It was 10-10 going into the 4th quarter.  If that is their best offensive performance of the season, it makes me feel a little better about the Bucs pathetic offense.

Ryan is a great defensive coach, but he's a terrible head coach.  He has no idea how to run or develop an offense.  He's never once invested any effort into building that offense and I have no faith that he'd do it here.  Pass on Ryan.  If he wants to come here and be a DC, I'm all for it.  We don't need another offensive mental midget as our head coach.

He would be an absolutely awesome DC for the Bucs.

Bingo!!The guy is a clown as a HC.

I went to a coaching clinic in which John Harbaugh spoke and he talked about how when he walked into the Raven's meeting room to address the team for the first time after being hired, that there were a ton of Ravens defenders there that were pissed off that Rex wasn't promoted to HC. His defenders love him and he is an Xs and Os genius. If anyone remembers that divisional playoff game from a few years ago in which the Jets beat the Patriots in Foxboro, that was one of the best defensive gameplans I've seen, after that Patriots offense had put up over 40 points on them earlier that year. Rex would come in here and design a scheme around his players. He would let Revis play man and let McCoy hunt instead of running all those damn quick TEXs.

then make him DC

of course you mean besides both 1st round draft picks he put into a qb because he was looking for his long term QB.

When Black Monday rolls around, a lot of eyes are going to be focused on New York.Of course, Jets coach Rex Ryan has known for some time he was on thin ice, so he took the bull by the horns last night.According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Ryan told his players in a team meeting that “the word on the street” was he was getting fired, so they should “ride with” him the last two games. Now whether there’s actually anything behind it, or whether Ryan’s trying to motivate his players for two meaningless games down the stretch remains to be seen.Neither would be outside the realm of possibility, which makes it an intriguing strategy on Ryan’s part.

I know some of you want to reunite Rex and Revis in Tampa.

Hell to the NO for Rex Ryan being coach here.
