According to ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley, one unnamed NFL team "seriously considered" signing free agent Ray Rice earlier this offseason, before ownership stepped in to nix the deal.The owner of the undisclosed team had "concerns about public reaction to signing (Rice) given the taped incident" of domestic violence. Although that deal fell through, it's an indication that teams are indeed giving Rice consideration, even if they aren't being widely reported amongst the media. Currently training in Connecticut, Rice sounds willing to play for a minimum NFL salary. Schiano is a running joke in media and fan circles, but has a tight bond with coaches around the NFL, including Bill Belichick. Rice is still only 28 years old, and could add value to a backfield in a passing-down role, or even return as a lead runner in the right situation.
