Apologize if this has been posted....but looks like the larger Salary cap is already shrinking the Free agent pool. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000329568/article/eagles-riley-cooper-jason-kelce-strike-new-contracts Eagles' Riley Cooper, Jason Kelce strike new contractsBy Chris WesselingThe Philadelphia Eagles are three-fourths of the way toward their goal of new contracts for Jason Peters, Jason Kelce, Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin before the start of free agency on March 11.Having locked up Peters on Wednesday, the team announced contract extensions for Kelce and Cooper on Thursday.A source informed of the negotiations tells NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that Kelce's six-year extension is worth $37.5 million with $13 million guaranteed and an annual average of $6.25 million.Rapoport reports, via a person who has seen the contract, that Cooper's deal is valued at $25 million over five years. It's telling that the guaranteed numbers aren't in yet.Kelce will be paid commensurate with a top-five NFL center, which is appropriate. Still just 26 years old, Kelce is the ideal athletic center for Chip Kelly's uptempo offense. The 2011 sixth-round draft pick graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 center in 2013.Cooper has come a long way from his temporary banishment from the team last summer. He's being rewarded for a breakout season as the primary deep threat during Nick Foles' second-half emergence. With Cooper and DeSean Jackson signed to lucrative long-terms contracts, the Eagles might be hesitant to go more than one year with Maclin.According to Rapoport, though, the front office and the wide receiver were hoping for "big progress" over the next two days. There's still optimism on that front.Signing three core offensive players allows the team's brass to expend its energy and resources on the other side of the ball during free agency and the draft.

Kelce was PFF's No. 1 center in 2013, $6.25M per year when Ryan Kalil average $8.1M per year... Kelce's agent should be fired!wish we can sign Alex Mack for Kelce's money!

That is a big blow to the Bucs finding a value FA WR.  Maclin/Riely off the market potentially means the quality of WR's hitting FA diminishes and many other teams with the additional cap space will follow suit by re-signing their known players.  This FA period is going to be rough.

Increased cap is definitely gonna lead to some bidding wars. Heres hoping the glazers still have the nerve to spend, because they will have to if the new regime purges this roster like people seem to think and if we want to compete  next year.

Maclin is an injury risk. IIRC, he missed all of last season.  Nice player, but a risky signing by ANY team. I doubt the Eagles offer him a multi-year deal, that is to his and his agents liking. So I think they will want to test the market. And if that doesn't work out, they could still go back to the Eagles after free agency, with hat in hand, and say, OK, how about a 1 year deal ?

Maclin just signed a 1 year deal with the Eagles with $3.5 Million guaranteed and a max of $6 million.

Under the new cap rules, doesn't the team have to count the max value against the cap?

What a great contract for Kelce (from the Eagles perspective). http://overthecap.com/cap.php?Name=Jason%20Kelce&Position=C&Team=Eagles The Eagles resigned both Kelce and Cooper for about the cap hit in 14 that we're hearing the cap will be raised above initial projections (together 4.4 mil against 14).  Wow.  They locked down their two main free agents long term, resigned Maclin on a prove it deal, and still have about 20 mil of 14 cap money to play with.

This sucks.  The extra cap space ensures tags and players are re-signed before free agency commences.  Teams that have massive cap space (eg Raiders) will go bonkers.

Ya, I saw that earlier.  It may have been better for him to see if he could of got a multi year deal on the open market. Hell, he is only 25. But I can totally understand him grabbing the 1 year deal, he fits well, in Chip Kellys offense. And him still being young, he could cash in big time, in 2015, if he has a big year.
