The only thing that will help me get through these painful times as a die-hard Bucs fan is venting about them, so here goes nothing. I want to thank "loyal" and "real" Bucs fans like Garv for inspiring me to stay loyal to my team even if the owners of my favorite team are incompetent and carrying on an affair with another professional sports franchise. So let the venting begin! 1. Not to get all religious on you because I'm not a religious freak myself, but if we're going to take the Bible at its word, "envy" is one of the 7 Deadly Sins, right? Well it looks like I'm a sinner because I don't know how else to describe how I feel about the fact New England, Denver, Dallas and Detroit (yes, Detroit) all have win totals this season that match our win total over the past two seasons combined. 2. Sorry Glennon lovers, but the Bucs need a QB like Paris Hilton needed a sex tape to become relevant. But we're going to have some competition for QB's. Jacksonville won't take one -- they have a first-rounder invested in Bortles. But Oakland and NY Jets could screw this up for us. Both teams will have new coaches next year and those new coaches aren't going to be married to former second-round pick QBs. And don't take your eye off the Redskins or Rams. Those two-win teams could also be looking to take a QB in the Top 10 in 2015. 3. I like Gerald McCoy and believe he's one of our best defensive players. But am I the only one that had a problem with signing him to a $98 million contract extension while our team was 1-5? The players and coaches always say the NFL is a business. Well, the last time I checked the business world didn't generously reward mediocre results in its business. If you want to sign McCoy long-term, that's fine, but do it after this train wreck of a season. 4. Attention Mark Dominick. Your "franchise QB" still is looking for a franchise to sign with. Let's be clear. I absolutely do not want Josh Freeman back under center. But let's ask ourselves a question: How many other teams would Mike Glennon start for in the NFL? My count says zero, hence why we need a franchise QB, preferably one that is mobile and not the equivalent of a Malcolm Glazer statue behind a bad O-line. 5. Lovie and Licht need to own this debacle, but there's no getting around the fact that Mark Dominik's hand prints are all over this mess. This is the product of bad draft and bad signing after bad pick after bad signing. We have more holes than a Dunkin Doughnuts for Pete's sake. 6. It's tempting to keep rooting for the Bucs to lose at this point if you're hoping we nail Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota with a Top 5 pick. But based on our past several drafts, show of hands here for those of you that have an ounce of confidence that our scouting department and decision makers will help us get this Top 5 pick right? Show of hands, class. Bueller? Bueller? 7. If the Bucs were going to play this badly, they could have at least worked more orange into their uniforms or had the reworked battle flag skull wink at us. 8. Gotta feel for Seferian-Jenkins. He showed the arrogance of a WWE wrestler after scoring what appeared to be a game-tying TD, just to fumble away the game (literally) in overtime. Three lessons to be learned here, rookie: a. Stay humble b. Hold onto the damn ball c. Bro's before ho's.9. Even if Seferian-Jenkins held onto the ball and the Bucs managed to stumble into a win, would we really have felt much better? Let's face it: we would have been more entertained by watching ants build a nest than we were by that game yesterday. I'm just glad the Bucs made the most of their bye week (sigh). Otherwise, we might have never eclipsed 100 yards of offense in that game. By the way, I think Ben Roethlisberger had 100 yards of offense had his first two passes of the game yesterday. 10. So New England has a 67-21 regular season record since 2009. All the product of a great HC, great owner and great QB. Would it be too much to ask for the Bucs to just have one of those three? Tampa Bay could have the worst regular season win total of any other NFL team by the time 2014 is all said and done. Here is how the race for mediocrity is looking since 2009:1. St. Louis: 26-60-12. Cleveland: 27-603. Jacksonville: 27-604. Tampa Bay: 29-585. Oakland: 29-586. Washington: 30-57Let me rephrase what I wrote in item No. 1. I am religious, and find myself praying that God puts a merciful end to our 2014 season. RIP Bucs!
