The amount of money they're paying the two guards is absurd. At least one of them has to go.

I don't think Revis' $16 mill per year survives

Sure it does. We are $20 million under the cap. And we don't have a 3rd round pick. Who you going to get to replace both him and Leonard Johnson? You can't fill every position in the draft...we only have so many picks.McCoy, David, and Revis are probably what makes this team attractive from a defensive standpoint by any HC candidate. Those are 3 rocks you can build the unit around.

Not so sure. Our big needs have a tendency to be expensive. DE, QB (though I am not so sure on who will be available to us), OL.Unless we can get some pressure on the QB, what we have seen this year is we will get picked apart. We REALLY NEED a LDE IMO. You can go with the draft but again, I am not sure Barr will come in and star as he will be the best available IMO, so that leaves Jared Allen. We will have to do a full court press and he will be expensive, and to be honest I think he would overall more effective than Revis. With all that said, nobody is going to be stupid enough to pay Revis $16 million, so we will have to release him.

Or both.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got when I was younger was that if you're gonna f@#k up then f@#k up- don't f@#k down.  We can't cut somebody we have no replacement for just to cut them.  I could see a change at guard to a free agent or draft pick.  Maybe we can draft Matthews and move Penn inside?  He is big enough but he may be too tall.  Our biggest problems are in the trenches so I forsee most of our changes there along with maybe a new reciever.

Nicks could be as well I guess.  Don't really get too involved with the financials.  Maybe not feasible.

Nicks wouldn't be an easy cut. Davin would be.Revis is the big question mark to me. 16 million is a lot, but no guaranteed money, so he could be moved with no dead cap money. We'd also get our 3rd round pick back (and give up a 4th). Entirely depends on coach...but I do hope he stays.

Trade Penn now.2nd and 4th. Draft Matthews. trade Goldson for what i don't know.    Get me a Veteran slot/ ret. man( Ted Ginn, jacoby etc..you know obvious players who should have been already Bucs)

you are high as a kite if you think anyone offers a 2nd and a 4th for Penn. we couldn't even get a 4th for him. youd be lucky to get a 6th for him. high salary, declining play, weight issues. no freaking way

Nicks is an easy and obvious cut. his career is probably over anyway

Nicks would be $7,071,000 dead money, $2,286,000 cap savings... but if he can't play...

I meant strictly from a financial standpoint. Davin would result in no dead cap money, Nicks would leave plenty behind.

I think it depends on the defensive scheme. If Lovie is the guy and he's going to run Tampa 2...someone like Revis isn't really a great fit. You don't pay a cover corner $16 million to play zone. If he can adapt his D to play more man (and I think Lovie can) then I'd keep Revis. With that said, I think guys like Penn, Joseph, and Nicks are all in trouble. They all are overrated and over paid. I'd be willing to bring them back if they restructure, but if they won't...I'd look to rebuild the o-line. We also need to find a QB. Glennon is okay...but I don't think he's a franchise QB. I'd look to draft Manziel, get a DE like Hardy, and then focus on the o-line and maybe a true TE.

I don't know if Alterraun Verner has been resigned but if we could get him for half of what we pay Revis then Revis could be expendable. Maybe pick up him and DRC for the price of one Revis. In all likelihood though no player is coming here unless we overpay for them. I think they might just end up restructuring Revis to lower, but guaranteed money contract.

Mccoy, revis, david, martin, vj, mw, and wright make it fairly attractive. There are pieces in place that make this group worthy. With a few additions, and of course the right coach, they'll be pretty good. That's one thing schiano was right about. The next coach won't have nearly the work to do. There isn't a complete overhaul needed, only tweaks.
